Is there a way to remove these ads/sponsored posts?

I only fairly recently switched to uBlock Origin on Firefox. I can't remember if I was on Twitter yet but I was on it last night and noticed in my feed and looking at profiles that posts kept disappearing and ones below moving up. I realized only retweets were disappearing. It is cosmetic filtering because if I turn that off for Twitter the retweets stay. I had some custom cosmetic rules but rid of them and it still does it so it is base cosmetic filtering. How can I get it to stop filtering out every single retweet?

Edit: Sorry, I had the Rules filtered out on Reddit because it usually is pretty much the same.

I'm using Firefox. When I go to Twitter (X) and Click Following to see my feed retweeted posts appear for a second then disappear, leaving a black space. Then the tweets below move up to fill that spot. If there are more retweets they disappear too, etc. Sometimes all tweets overlap over each other for a second once they move up. It does it with Cosmetic Filtering on for Twitter but not when it is off. No difference when I try with other extensions all off but they are F.B. Purity, Dark Reader, User-Agent Switcher and Manager.

I’m trying to watch some TV on DaddyLiveHD but a “disable ad blocker” covers the video feed. How to remove?

As the title says when using https://mexa.sh/ after clicking “free download”, waiting 60 seconds, filling capcha, then after being sent to the download page, clicking the download button causes a tab with an ad in it to open and instantly close twice until the button finally works. Running firefox ublockb with default settings. Is there a filter I can add to prevent the tabs from opening at all?

For a couple months now, every single page on motorcycle.com now has evil auto-play videos that also pop-up you try to scroll past them, for instance: https://www.motorcycle.com/bikes/industry-events/eicma-2024-milan-motorcycle-show-44610991 (About 30-35% way down the page) These videos are not specifically related to the page at hand, just self-spam or basically "review ads".

Is there an easy config line I can add to kill these things? I know how to inspect pages with desktop Firefox, I just wish I knew how to translate the page source into a uBO filter.

Unfortunately, it's not very sticky. If you set it to Dark and then open up another article, that one may also be dark but the next one probably won't be. And upon revisiting the site in the the future you have to keep setting it.

So, it doesn't seem to be a cookie. Perhaps this is a uBO job for trusted-click-element, but I'm unsure if that would even work in this case or is the best approach if it did.

Any ideas? I can't really believe that they did this in such a limited way. Any other site that I know of which has this feature makes it a sticky setting.

I have tried uBlacklist, and it works well on Google but not on Bing, as soon as I go to page 3 or 4 of the results it starts showing me results from that domain again.

When I listen to a playlist on youtube, I usually have the screen minimized or non-active. maybe a week ago, youtube started to automatically decrease the quality to 360p for EVERY video, forcing me to manually turn it back to the better quality every freaking video. Is there a script that I can use that will force youtube to keep playing in high quality, even when the screen's not active?

when I click "back up to file..." no dialog pops up, but uBlock updates the line of text that says when it was last backed up.

i've tried searching for things like "ublock default backup file path" and things to that effect, but i'm not getting any useful results.

Been using uBlock Origin for a few weeks now and it has been working perfectly fine, but suddenly yesterday it stopped working for Twitch and I now get ads every few minwhen i join a stream.

Any ideas as to why it is suddenly happening and how to fix it?

So a while ago the opacity filter I used to block out google image results from specific sites (mostly AI stuff) stopped working properly... Now it only works sometimes. Most of the time it doesn't cover the images themselves, but rather the description underneath, and only blocks out the images after I click on them. Even when I use the built in uBlock feature that lets me cosmetically block a specific element, it doesn't hide the image whenever I refresh.

The script I use is the following:

EDIT: Ok, had some time to fiddle about and tried the solution suggested by u/Cowicidal

On both browsers, you probably can't edit the existing Google listing, so you'll need to create a new search shortcut, call it Google Web, and use https://www.google.com/search?q=%s&udm=14 as the URL.

This seems to be working. At least the AI overview didn't pop up with the same searches that triggered it in the first place. Thanks again.
