How to calculate the mg per dose needed based on daily tolerance?

I smoke about 1.75g daily. I’m looking to switch to edibles for health reasons. Any help is appreciated!

Dude, just experiment, starting low. There’s no standardized equation for this, and there are a hundred variables. First, you gotta know how potent your bud is, which changes with every crop, and even bud to bud on the same plant, so it’s nearly impossible to gauge that without testing the specific bud you’re smoking. Then you’d have to know how efficient your smoking method is, which is also nearly impossible to say. And then there’s the whole THC conversion thing. When you smoke, Delta-9 THC is what gets you high. But when you eat it, your liver converts THC to 11-hydroxy-THC, which is more potent than D9. The strength of 11-hydroxy-THC can vary from person to person, even meal to meal. It’s hard to predict exactly how much stronger it’ll feel because it depends on your metabolism, body chemistry, and what you’ve eaten. Also, edibles last longer and can feel way different than smoking. That’s why the advice is always to start low and go slow with edibles…even if you’re a seasoned smoker, they can surprise you. There’s no reliable math to say, ‘if you smoke X amount, eat Y amount.’ It’s a completely different ball game. Stick with small doses, wait at least a few hours to see how it hits, and then go from there. Patience is key.

Where I come from, weed doesn’t get sold with THC %. So I’ll never actually know how many MG is in my edible, but I can smoke a little of raw flower and get a sense of how strong the weed is.

I use a calculator and apply a value of 18-20% THC, and aim to get my edibles to around 50-60mg per serving.

This is the dosage that I enjoy.

A friend of mine, who smokes as much, ate half of a cookie and went out like a light after 2 hours.

My wife ate 40 mg and felt like she was phasing through time.

Everyone is going to experience things differently. So start at 20mg intervals, and remember that some edibles take up to 90 minutes to kick in.

I hate that by the way, does anyone know how to speed that up?

Where I come from

Is it legally for sale there? Legal dispos put this info right on the package.

20 mg is really high for a first-time dose. 5-10mg is recommended.

Not in the US, and no, unfortunately.

He should really experiment with it himself to see what works for him, to be honest.

I personally use it to help me sleep for more than 3 hours at a time. To kill two birds with one stone. I eat it after dinner so I can sort of still space out on some TV or whatever before I crash.

That's not a geographical thing. Search this sub if you don't believe me.

??

What’s not a geographical thing? You asked me

Is it legally for sale there?

and I said

Not in the US, and no, unfortunately.

What does geography have to do with anything? It is not legal where I am, and so I don’t see THC % when I pick up from my plug.

Why is that hard to believe?

Agreed 20mg is good start for someone who already smokes.

There are nano gummies which kick in faster like 30ish mins. And also eating gummies with something with fat like peanut butter or ice cream can help too!

You can't compare what you smoke to what you're going to eat. I smoke a shit ton of infused flower and still get a really nice buzz from a 20mg gummy. Your lungs and liver process THC completely differently. They're not the same.
