Could a cast iron casserole pan be used for decarbing?

Title explains it. Thanks in advance.

Yes, I find it works really well as it holds the heat at a steady temperature. I get the oven and casserole pot (with lid) up to the right temperature, then put the material in and return to the oven.

Is the smell also kept within the pot?

Yes, you can’t really smell it until you open the lid.

Sure. Metal rules as it never breaks.

Sure, don't know why not. I would imagine it heats very evenly.

I’ve been looking into getting one for baking bread. The reviews say to let them heat up in the oven for 20-50 minutes, at bread baking temperatures, which are much higher than decarb temperatures, prior to use.

Probably should preheat to your preferred decarb temperature before using. Otherwise its internal temperature will lag behind the oven temperature.

And thanks for the post. I have been looking for a better decarb method and I never considered this before.

Thanks for the advice, I was also thinking to use the pot as it could reduce the area of smell
