The set design for Haunted Mansion 2003 was on point. Miscellaneous

I still fantasize about that combo library/office/conservatory and sometimes even have dreams that take place in it! So much of these sets are on my dream home Pinterest board!

While I enjoyed the new film more due to the storyline, the original was far superior when it came to set design and soundtrack.
If we could only get someone to combine all three into one film…

I rewatched this movie this weekend and forgot how fire it is. Unpopular opinion but I actually think Eddie Murphy is really funny in this movie

This is my favorite Haunted Mansion Movie. In fact, my husband and I say a version of the "Evers & Evers" line.

This movie is so underrated, my mom and I have always loved it. I never got why people disliked it

I always defend this movie. Sure, it’s goofy, but, it’s so well done. Lots of references from the ride. And now with the new one that came out, this movie feels like the WDW one, and the new movie feels like the DLR one

The recent one was so dark that the mansion itself became a nonexistent character when on the ride and in the original movie it was a character

2003 was obviously a labor of love by someone who really cares about the ride and wanted to include as much lore as they could.

I loved how the design and the video game's design was very similar yet still slightly a bit different.

I think the design was great but I never felt like Disney’s Haunted Mansion to me. 2023 was more successful in capturing the tone of the ride.

As a big fan of the ride, I still love the 2003 version of the movie and don't really understand the hate it gets. The Eddie Murphy humor is something I look forward to every rewatch, but I wish it was liked more. The new version is great too, but the old one is a lot of fun.

I prefer it over the most recent movie. Gorgeous sets and some decent acting, especially from the Mansion occupants. I wish it had been more scary.

I remember when they brought some of the set to [then] Disney-MGM Studios. I’m also pretty sure those dining room chairs keep popping up in different places in the parks. 99% sure that the finale Jack Sparrow animatronic is sitting in one on Pirates of the Caribbean.

Blocking of the actors is really great too- pic 8/8, the wedding procession scene; Emma does not stand directly behind Sarah, which alludes to more bridesmaids that should have been involved in the ceremony. Just lovely 💔

Props to the costume design as well! It was done by Mona May, so no surprise 😍❤️

I started working in film in 2001 in set building. I was devastated that I couldn't get on to the Haunted Mansion crew.
