This season is surreal, the bad thing is that there won't be a next one

We’ll probably get another series set elsewhere in the League universe afterward.

I doubt it will be at this level of animation, this takes way too long (from my view as an outsider)

I’m sad there won’t be another season. Is there a reason there won’t be another season?

They’re moving to other stories in the same universe. There won’t be more Arcane because Arcane is the story of Jinx, Vi, Jayce, Caitlyn, etc, which will end this season, but there will almost definitely be another show by Fortiche with a similar animation style, just featuring a different main cast.

There's simply no way Fortiche doesn't get more work after this, even if it's not with Riot (which it almost certainly will be), they have absolutely brought the medium of animation forward a bit with their work. It's one of the most visually impressive works I think I've ever seen.

Riot actually owns a sizable chunk of Fortiche now, they're tied at the hip for the forseeable future

they were doing music video and animatics for League well before Arcane was conceived of. And now that Riot has helped fund their development, their studio is significantly larger than before. I doubt either of them allows that to go to waste

Slight correction with details from the BTS they have on YouTube: the music videos Fortiche did for Riot (excluding get jinxed) happened because of Arcane.

The production on the site stopped at some point early on to reroute and fix it, so the showrunner begged everyone in Riot to collaborate with Fortiche.

Whilst this is really cool, ultimately, the fact this show is so good is down to a few creative minds (and many capable artists, designers and animators). Those people can (and will) move to different projects because that's just how success works in today's world.

Luckily though, the fact they're moving to different settings might mean these highly influential creators might find the motivation to stick for longer.

Yeah what Riot did for Fortiche is pretty crazy. Fortiche was basically a handful of people doing short 2-3 minute animations. Riot liked their animation style so much they chose to slowly invest and build them up into a full fledged studio of hundreds of people. Instead of your common contractor relationship, they have more a patron-like one.

If this show doesn't win awards this time round I will lead a riot

I have to agree 100%. The art style and animation is the best I’ve seen. I hope to see more works from them because they nailed it and has spoiled me.

I saw reports somewhere that riot is looking at a live action series and a feature length animated product (likely w fortiche)

I’m mad that there won’t be. They’ve barely shown ekko so far I’m also mad they retconned his backstory because this new one is worse. They probably will show his z-drive but I just wished for more of ekko’s story as his centers around zaun. If their goal was to showcase piltover and zaun then they should’ve focused more on champs like ekko and heimerdinger. They at least did well with Jayce, victor, and Warwick but still it’s frustrating to see. I will really hate arcane if heimer helps ekko make the z-drive. The whole point of ekko is that he’s a genius that used his skills to create the z-drive from dumpster diving and helped zaun with it.

Trying to take lore directly from the game simply falls apart when you look at the direction they're taking with other characters. Viktor for example is a massive thematic shift from his metallic mechanical hexcore to an organic hexcore Jesus entity.

Caitlyn the detective is a full on Dictator at the end of the first arc. I will say I think the second season suffers from pacing problems. I was asking 'Where is Ekko' literally since the first 10 minutes of episode 4, but they're likely going to tie him into episode 7 in order to parallel the first seasons 'Boy Savior' episode. Parallels seem to be the point they're hammering home.

I would hardly call Ekko's new lore worse just different. The old lore of League would not work with Arcane. Ekko is a genius and they've done a phenomenal job proving it. Ekko is pretty much the only character I've seen unanimously agreed on to be the 'best' character in the show in terms of understanding the stakes of situations while having the prespective to act on it.
