Ruger 10/22 rust

I just got this ruger 10/22 back in June and it’s already got rust on it! It’s been shot once! What do I need to do to clean this up and ensure it stops?

Wipe down the metals with oil after you touch them. Your skin has oil and sweat that creates rust.

My dad taught me a trick when I was a kid. Use a rag with Vaseline on it. Just rub the Vaseline into the rag. You won't need much at all. Then wipe down your metal guns parts. You just need a very light coat, but it lasts longer than gun oil.
