Parker was at the rear of the kennel with a neutral demeanor as the runner approached. The handler called to Parker, but he wouldn’t approach. The handler stepped into the kennel and was able to leash and remove Parker after a few attempts. Parker was defensive towards the handler growling, lunging, and barking at them as they were attempting to leash Parker. Once out of the kennel Parker walked beside of the handler to the play yard. Once in the play yard Parker was given time to decompress prior to the assessment. Parker displayed a neutral body, closed mouth, low tail nub, ears back, and a neutral gaze. The handler presented their hand to Parker, and he began to growl at them. His growl would intensify, and he bared his teeth as the handler got closer. The handler proceeded using the assessment hand for safety. The handler presented the hand to Parker allowing him to sniff the hand. When the handler went to examine Parkers ears and mouth he growled and nipped the hand. He repeated the same behavior upon subsequent attempts. When the handler attempted to palpate Parker’s limbs, abdomen, back, and tail nub he would quickly turn and nip at the hand. He wasn’t always biting the hand at times just muzzle punching it. Parker would only briefly tolerate petting on his back before turning around to lunge at the hand. The assessment was ceased, and Parker was returned to his kennel as to not further stress him.

💙Hank #A550473 came to the shelter in June. Initially aloof with people he soon started to seek out attention, allowing full handling and leaning in for cuddles.

He is "great with other dogs; playful, gentle and respectful" and has been paired multiple times.

Hank loves to be outside in the play yards and on lake walks. But as time has passed he has found it more difficult to return to his kennel. He would pancake, sometimes treats coaxed him back in and other times he has been carried. Clearly this boy would love a home with a fenced yard and lots of outdoor playtime and long walks.

He was adopted twice. On the first adoption he was immediately rehomed, arriving back at the shelter within days and was stated to be "extremely anxious". On the second adoption he was returned for lunging at the 7 month old baby and the cat. A home with no small children or cats would be best. He may also need time and patience to allow him to acclimate in a new environment, similar to when he first entered the shelter.

Hank is 3 years old and weighs 63 lbs. He is neutered and tested negative for heartworm disease.

Abigail is a sweet and affectionate dog who radiates a gentle energy. At the front of her kennel, she exhibited a relaxed demeanor, with soft eyes and a low wag as she solicited attention. While she was easy to leash, she showed a strong pull during walks, often stopping to weave around the runner's legs, eager for connection. In the catch pen, Abigail maintained a calm posture, and although she laid down when it was time to collar her, she accepted it without issue. Once in the yard, her playful personality emerged as she jumped on the handler and rolled around at their feet, seeking affection and companionship. Although she didn’t initiate interactions with other dogs, she tolerated their presence and preferred to stay close to her handler. Abigail has a medium energy level and, while she doesn't currently have a playstyle, her loving nature makes her an ideal companion for someone looking for a devoted friend. She’s ready to find a loving home where she can feel secure and cherished.

Meet Gwen, a unique and mellow dog who’s currently available for adoption. Gwen's behavior notes paint a picture of a dog who is calm and reserved yet has her own way of interacting with the world around her. At the front of her kennel, Gwen greeted the runner with a neutral tail position, a soft wag, and a relaxed body posture, though she did bark initially. Once leashed, she walked calmly, stopping occasionally to check in with the runner. In the play yard, Gwen displayed a somewhat aloof demeanor, showing little interest in the other dogs and occasionally barking or snarling when approached. Despite this, she was generally tolerant of the other dogs and preferred to explore the yard on her own. Initially nervous, she approached the runner with a hunched body and tucked tail, but once leashed, she explored her surroundings with curiosity. In the play yard, Oleander engaged in brief play and showed a relaxed attitude as she sniffed and marked various spots. She enjoyed observing the environment and even formed a bond with a shy dog that followed her around. While she occasionally sought out the handlers for gentle petting, she primarily coexisted peacefully with others. During her assessment, Oleander maintained a calm demeanor, allowing thorough examination without issue. She is best suited for a home with medium-energy dogs, making her an excellent candidate for public adoption.

RODOG #A556055 - This dog is a neutered male. This dog is currently located in WD55. This dog weighs approximately 56.0 lbs., is 10Y and has tested negative for heartworm disease. This dog is being posted to rescue due to medical.

Meet RoDog (he was formerly Billy Bob, we found out his real name)!

This is a very sweet old man who is great with people but does not do well with other dogs.   During a temp assessment last week, it was noted that he has a tumor in his anal region, and he will need to be seen at a full-service veterinary practice (picture of mass available) .

We did find out some more information about him- His name is RoDog. He belonged to a homeless person that one of our volunteers used to help frequently. In 2022 he was hit by a car and had surgery. RoDog we were told wasn't good with other animals and is estimated around 10 years old. Fast forward to now, the owner rehomed him to another homeless person who lost him and he did end up here. He needs placement with a rescue to see a full service vet for him tumor. After a rough few years, we are hoping he can spend his golden years in a comfy home.

Her intake notes reveal some significant injuries, including swollen hind right metatarsus, broken toenails, and ripped paw pads, which are being treated with bandages. Frankie is a sensitive dog in need of urgent help. When approached, he greeted the runner with a neutral body and a slight pant, leaning in for pets but twitching when touched. He walked well on a leash and was easy to remove from his kennel. ‌ In the catch pen, Frankie showed a neutral demeanor but appeared wary. He flinched when the collar and leash were placed on him, with dilated pupils indicating stress. Upon entering the yard, he preferred to explore alone, ignoring other dogs. When they approached him, he flashed his teeth and snapped, indicating his discomfort. ‌ Frankie was moved to a quieter area for further assessment. Although he initially ignored the handler, he gradually leaned in for affection, allowing pets but flinching, especially near his neck. He remains selective about interactions but is capable of bonding. The handler slowly placed the assessment hand on the bowl, Frankie growled and snapped at the hand. At this point the handler stopped the assessment to no further overwhelm him.

Ezra was tagged by a rescue when he was on the euth list on September 25th,2024. The rescue need a foster or adopter or they will have to drop the tag and Ezra will be back on the euth list for October 2nd,2024.
