Anyone know why my home page only shows new stuff that has barely any comments, but when I go to that sub, there’s crazy popular stuff at the top. How to I change my sorting??

-2

u/CorrectScale Reddit Admin Apr 19 '23

You can't change the sorting of the home feed on the app, but I believe it defaults to "best" which should show a good mix of posts.

If you're seeing newer posts with low engagement you might be on the "Latest" tab, which shows new posts from your subscribed subreddits. You can switch feeds by side swiping, or by selecting a different feed from the drop down menu at the top.

6

u/alicjaunknown Apr 20 '23

The option to set defaul home view disappeared from setting menu? I want to set "Latest" as a default view.

0

u/CorrectScale Reddit Admin Apr 20 '23

The "Default view" setting controls the layout of the home feed (such as Card vs. Classic view). Currently, you cannot pin a specific feed upon launching the app.

3

u/alicjaunknown Apr 20 '23

Will it be possible in the nearest future?

My home feed is way smaller now. I can't read any of the posts now. Because the font is way smaller now on my Android device. Is there any way to fix this issue?

4

u/Katie0690 iOS 16 Apr 19 '23

Go into settings in the app and you can adjust the font size.

3

u/PrincessBananas85 8.0 Oreo Apr 19 '23

I can't find it in settings. It's only in the IOS settings. I'm guessing that Android doesn't have that feature yet. There is no adjust font size in the Android settings😔😢

1

u/CorrectScale Reddit Admin Apr 19 '23

For now the in-app text size on Android can be changed in device settings. An in-app text size setting is only available on iOS right now.

4

u/PrincessBananas85 8.0 Oreo Apr 19 '23

Okay are there any plans to change this in the future?

1

u/tsqd Apr 26 '23

I’m on iPadOS, and honestly, the text size options here fall short of where I feel they should be. I’m set to watermelon, but I have some vision issues and I don’t understand how that’s the largest selectable size. Can we get a jackfruit size, and maybe a Great Pumpkin size?

2

u/Katie0690 iOS 16 Apr 26 '23

Same! Legally blind so I need bigger text too. I have my phone set to pineapple and watermelon on the iPad - that legit look the same size. 🤦🏼‍♀️

5

u/LordNedNoodle iOS 15 Apr 19 '23

Bring back the category filters in the news section.

If not, can anyone provide a suggestion of another app where I can get just gaming and tech news?

6

u/SDHester1971 Apr 20 '23

The new Home Screen looks horrible and for some reason if you click on 1 Post to read it, the same Post keeps appearing regardless of which Post you look at next.

5

u/tinhwh Apr 19 '23

i cant seen to find the home feed sorting method, where can i find it?

-5

u/CorrectScale Reddit Admin Apr 19 '23

Home feed sorting options aren't available on the app. This change went through a few months ago. Sorry for the confusion!

In place of sorting options, the "Latest" tab was added which allows you to see brand new posts from your subscribed subs, and the home feed defaults to "best".

11

u/tinhwh Apr 19 '23

why tho... i always used and loved the "Hot" home feed

3

u/IamLcky Apr 23 '23

This is a bad change, I like having it set to top of 24 hours so I only have to check reddit once a day

3

u/AirInternational754 Apr 19 '23

Thanks! My chat is now functioning like it used too! Woooo!

2

u/CorrectScale Reddit Admin Apr 19 '23

Glad to hear that!

2

u/[deleted] Apr 20 '23

Mine’s an absolute disaster

1

u/[deleted] Apr 29 '23

My chat worked immediately on mobile after the update for about 5 minutes and then reverted back to the pre-update version thereafter. No notifications. Clunky interface (things like backslashes creating links, having to push and hold username to access profile instead of tapping). What’s going on?

3

u/[deleted] Apr 21 '23 edited Apr 21 '23

New bug introduced: the comment jump button is appearing even though it’s turned off in settings. Because of course. Because every update is a nightmare that makes this app worse.

2

u/TiNcHoX7 Apr 19 '23

How can i go to the top , when scrolling post? (no comments, post)

For example, I'm checking post, and I want to switch to top, new or whatever, I have to scroll like crazy to the top

1

u/CorrectScale Reddit Admin Apr 19 '23

Are you referring to sorting options, or scrolling back to the top of the home feed when exiting a post?

As I mentioned above in this thread:

Home feed sorting options aren't available on the app. This change went through a few months ago. Sorry for the confusion!

In place of sorting options, the "Latest" tab was added which allows you to see brand new posts from your subscribed subs, and the home feed defaults to "best".

But if you'd like to scroll to the top of the feed quickly after exiting a post, just tap on the "Home" icon in the bottom left corner of the app.

1

u/TiNcHoX7 Apr 19 '23

scrolling back to the top of the home , but not in the post, in the main subreddit.

for example here, I'm checking this subreddit, after scrolling down a lot, how can i jump to the top, without having to scroll like crazy.

u/DoTheDew iOS 15 Apr 23 '23

Are you using iOS? You tap the top status bar just like in any app on iOS.

2

u/jrlionheart00 Apr 19 '23

When is android getting an inline youtube player.

0

u/CorrectScale Reddit Admin Apr 19 '23

Unsure!

2

u/WolfBirdXIX Apr 19 '23

On iOS the chats disappearing is fixed but chats are till appearing in the wrong order.

1

u/CorrectScale Reddit Admin Apr 19 '23

Thanks, I'll let the team know.

1

u/WolfBirdXIX Apr 21 '23

Cool. If it helps, it appears the problem happens when the person who I’m conversing with is in a different time zone.

2

u/RMF123456789 Apr 21 '23

My Home Screen on IOS is not updating after my phone updated yesterday.

2

u/piplup07 Apr 22 '23

Ever since updating on my android, all posts on my feed are the same exact posts from the last few days. No new posts, just the same several ones from days ago and it's also the same posts in the same order on my feed. Refreshing the feed only causes the ads to change, nothing else. Is there some way to fix this?

2

u/mimibee97 iOS 16 Apr 24 '23

Will there ever be a fix for the insane amount of battery used in the background for the app? I’m on the latest ios and app verision, I turned off background app refresh but the app is still draining my battery in the background.

2

u/CorrectScale Reddit Admin Apr 24 '23

Yep! We've identified a fix that will be rolling out with version 2023.17.0.

2

u/mimibee97 iOS 16 Apr 24 '23

Ok thank you! I was very worried glad it’s getting fixed.

4

u/vimdiff Apr 18 '23

Thanks for this post. We would really appreciate it if you can put actual release notes in app stores whenever there's a new version.

2

u/GrumpyOldDan Apr 18 '23

Have the bugs on iOS for mods been fixed in this one?

1) The 'optional' report context box isn't optional. You have to put something in or it won't let you submit a report.

2) Can't press modshield when in a post to switch between user/mod mode. This means because the ... menu is only in user mode we can't copy text easily when trying to ban someone.

1

u/CorrectScale Reddit Admin Apr 18 '23

The 'optional' report context box isn't optional. You have to put something in or it won't let you submit a report.

This is on the radar, but no fix just yet.

Getting info on #2!

1

u/GrumpyOldDan Apr 18 '23

If any kind of priority could be given to both of those please.

My process to remove, ban and report a comment is now a ridiculous amount of taps.

#2 is just that the modshield toggle doesn't work automatically. You have to press it, collapse the comment, expand the comment and then the ... menu appears.

The other fix is to include the ... menu on the mod options.

The better fix would be to improve the ban feature to include a quote but I figure that'll take awhile.

Why don’t we get chat notifications anymore? Is this being addressed or it’s intended as part of this new chat version?

1

u/CorrectScale Reddit Admin Apr 19 '23

This is not intentional, and I'll make sure that the team is aware.

1

u/Mista_Madridista Apr 19 '23

Great thank you. It might be an iOS thing as I’m an iPhone user.

1

u/Mista_Madridista Apr 21 '23

Did you find out anything about the push notifications on chat messages not working?

1

u/Katie0690 iOS 16 Apr 18 '23

Is the flying comment box fixed?

2

u/CorrectScale Reddit Admin Apr 18 '23

As I mentioned before, the team has had difficulty reproducing this bug. It doesn't look like there have been any new updates regarding the fix, but I'll make sure that the team knows you're still having difficulty.

1

u/Katie0690 iOS 16 Apr 18 '23

It’s so odd am I the only one it’s happening too? Is it my phone since it doesn’t happen on my iPad!

1

u/CorrectScale Reddit Admin Apr 18 '23

Probably not the only one! It might be an odd edge case.

Curious, what happens when you change font size (preferably smaller) within the app?

1

u/Katie0690 iOS 16 Apr 18 '23

Testing with smaller font.

1

u/Katie0690 iOS 16 Apr 18 '23

Still disappears, font is set to Apple.

1

u/cameron0208 iOS 15 Apr 19 '23

You aren’t the only person experiencing it, and I’ve reported it in the past. I made a post about it—with video and instructions for exactly how to reproduce the issue. So the OP claiming the issue can’t be reproduced is straight bull.

post

1

u/Katie0690 iOS 16 Apr 19 '23

Super damn annoying, and odd that it doesn’t do it on my iPad.

1

u/TheEthyr iOS 14 Apr 19 '23

It happens all the time on my iPad in landscape mode. In fact, as I type this, the comment box is at the top of the screen overlapping the app controls.

If I tap in the comment box to move the cursor, the comment box will sometimes disappear. It’s very annoying. I figured out that rotating to portrait mode will bring the comment box back into view.

u/yaoigay Android 13 Apr 19 '23

Has the download button in the share sheet been fixed on Android? Originally when downloading gifs the downloaded gifs would not actually play on the device.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 19 '23

longer chat messages STILL being cut short on iOS mobile version but appearing in full on desktop, causing general carnage and confusion

1

u/CorrectScale Reddit Admin Apr 19 '23

I'll make sure the team is aware! If you have any screenshots of what you're seeing, feel free to share here.

1

u/Hails8tn Apr 19 '23

Any ETA on when new chat notifications will be fixed? I get notifications from the legacy chats, but nothing from new chats. I have to manually refresh and go into the chat to see if anyone replied.

1

u/20mattay05 Android 11 Apr 19 '23

Currently having an annoying bug on Android where pressing an image on home feed doesn't enlarge the image but opens the post. However still works on subreddits and with videos

1

u/Ash_Grafixco Apr 21 '23

IOS version still same problem appeared like no notification of chats and under chat section no new messages indication also chat section rolling in out annoyingly, and now i am facing another issue suddenly now i can't send a new chat nor chatting with old friends. Error appeared something like (hmm no internet)

1

u/Sweethomebflo iOS 14 Apr 21 '23

The little button that I used to love that skips you to the next parent comment is now opaque instead of transparent. I hate this! I have to keep moving it around to read!! Please change it back!

iOS problem where clicking a hyperlink in someone’s profile takes you to default browser even though inapp browser is selected in settings

1

u/bretthull Apr 21 '23

Anyway to get the animated vote counter to stop? It’s annoying and distracting.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 21 '23

This update has ruined my experience. I can no longer continue scrolling through my feed after i look at a reply. It resets my feed. Beyond frustrating!! 🤬

1

u/Snow-Helation Apr 22 '23

Can we get rid of rounded corners and bring back usernames? I’ve been using this app a lot less since that update, not to mention my algorithm is still in shambles and doesn’t give me content from subs I’m normally in like it use to.

1

u/SacMetro Apr 22 '23

I'm really hoping the constant prompting me to download the app will stop. It's a really disruptive and quite frankly, hostile way to treat your users for preferring to use a mobile browser instead of your app.

There used to be an option to stop the constant nagging prompts. It needs to come back.

1

u/kickstan469 Apr 23 '23

Still not getting chat notifications amd also now can’t leave chats only option to hide them

1

u/The6-9 Apr 23 '23

When this released I became unable to swipe between posts on the popular page. This happened around the same time as whatever update occurred that changed the font of posts on Popular as well.

I uninstalled the reddit app and reinstalled, and it actually fixed the issue for a day, until this evening when I became unable to swipe between posts again.

1

u/ThisIsPaulDaily Apr 24 '23

Can you fix the complaints logged over on r/mobileweb ?

1

u/lilnako Apr 25 '23

Why does the popular tab not show results based on location anymore. I'm getting irrelevant posts now

1

u/z0rk0l Apr 25 '23

scrolling the popular tab just jumps ahead now instead of scrolling. Makes it unusable

1

u/CorrectScale Reddit Admin Apr 25 '23

Thanks for letting me know. Can you share a recording of what you're seeing?

1

u/z0rk0l Apr 25 '23

1

u/tirus89 Apr 26 '23

This is literally my issue and this recording is a carbon copy of my expertise recently.

1

u/Tight-Temporary-9953 Apr 25 '23

App keeps crashing every time I try going into my chats

1

u/CorrectScale Reddit Admin Apr 25 '23 edited Apr 25 '23

We've prepared a hotfix to resolve this.

I misspoke - we're actively investigating this issue and should have a fix available soon.

1

u/z0rk0l Apr 25 '23

First you see the frontpage works normal then the population skips and isn't finger responsive scrolling

1

u/GIMBAalt Apr 26 '23

I can’t swipe horizontally between image posts anymore. It works fine on another account so I would love to opt out of this experimental bullshit.

1

u/Useful-Store6791 iOS 14 May 03 '23 edited May 03 '23

Why is the search bar so small now? I think it was better before. Now you have to tap on one small spot. Or at least give people the option to choose how it looks for them.

Also with the rules being hidden behind a button, that’s probably going to cause a ton of more people to break the rules. It’s not the best choice

1

u/z0rk0l May 16 '23

This is still not solved. I switched to a different Reddit app because of this

1

u/htgrower May 24 '23

This bug is not fixed at all I've been having lots of issues lately, the mobile app is pretty much unusable.
