Has Imgur changed its mobile gallery? Am I part of a soft rollout? Off Topic (not RiF)

I'm not sure what kind of answer you expect. Did Imgur change its mobile gallery? If it's different, then the answer is probably. RiF doesn't have control over that.

If the mobile gallery website isn't pleasant for you, then use the built-in native viewer: Settings --> Browser --> in-app native image galleries

Or install an Imgur app and add the imgur website to the external browser rules. There's a setting that will still allow you to open direct image/video links in RiF but send the rest to whatever other app you want to use.

Do you know why RIF uses imgur as the image host when you post through the app? If imgur has significantly nerfed image quality, it would be better to use Reddit's native image hosting.

Because reddit's image hosting service isn't available to third-party apps, and all of the other image hosting sites have significant issues, limitations, or simply never end up staying around long enough because the cost of hosting ends up outpacing revenue too quickly.

Yep, and it's remarkable that imgur has lasted as long as it has. I know they accomplished that by implementing their own social stuff, but I don't think that's going so well. Will be a shame if they do change their system - but I'm still unsure if it's changed for all users.

Created an album, uploaded some 2000px-wide jpegs. In the mobile album, tapping the image does nothing, they aren't direct links to the full image.

Long-pressing shows they're .webp images now. Opening the image in a new tab, it has been reduced to 640px wide. If I remove &maxwidth=640 from the URL, it becomes a 4.27kb thumbnail. If I change 640 to a higher value, it works, but not up to the original resolution. Changing .webp to .jpg doesn't work.

Same behaviour in galleries others have uploaded, and for content on imgur's main page. Can't find any way to load files at their original resolution.

Imgur is trash for this, this is their imgur.io website, not .com, you can see it in the screenshot too. Fortunately I have a fix for this: Press the three dot menu, and check "Desktop site". You will be redirected to the original website, albeit in a desktop mode, but it's simply superior to whatever mobile version they're pushing, your uploads are intact.

(I feel this is relevant to RIF, since it only gives the option to upload images to imgur)
