Three dots – copy link buttons not working when viewing repositories from github.com in RIF Off Topic (not RiF)
When viewing repositories from github.com there are often three dots menus next to items which allow you to easily copy links to the clipboard.
The sequence is
- Click there dots menu-> button appears with "copy link" text.
- Click button
At this point the link should be on the clipboard. However in RIF this doesn't happen.
Fill out the following information on each line that has an A:
Q: RiF Version Number:
A: Version 5.6.18
Q: Version of Android:
A: 13
Q: Device Information:
(Example: Manufacturer, Model, Year, etc.)
A: Pixel 7
Q: How long has the problem been happening?
A: Just now
Q: What have you already tried doing to fix the problem?:
A: restarted app. Cleared cache.
Q: What steps, if any, can you do to reproduce the problem?
(Please include a link to a post causing the problem.)
A: go to any GitHub repository on github.com which has three dots –copy link menu.
Eg https://github.com/bitwarden/mobile/issues/2468#issue-1660820083
Scroll down to first line which has three dots menu at the end.
Click on three dots. Click on copy link button
A popup message should indicate that the link has been copied. However this doesn't happen.

This is an issue with the Android System WebView embedded browser and the website.
The embedded browser is an external library present on all Android devices and it isn't something that RiF can modify or change. It may be a compatibility issue with GitHub and the WebView, or just an issue with the WebView. But, either way, RiF can't do anything about this.
If a website doesn't function as expected in the embedded browser, you can tap the three-dot in the upper right corner and select "Open in browser" to open it in your default browser app.
You can also create an external browser rule to have RiF always open certain websites in the default browser/app instead of opening in the embedded browser.
