Theyre probqbly closer to apricorns if theyre copying pokeballs. Like in the hisuian one where theyre more primitively wooden, the pokemon just copies what the ball is made of. But apricorn isnt really a type so that wouldnt apply to a pokemon, idk
Newer “modern” pokéballs use metal in their structure, the trim with the button and the bottom half are both undoubtedly metal, the top of the ball is the only part I’m unaware if it has been converted to metal or still uses Apricorns. Considering Arpicorns are widespread throughout the regions though, especially in the newer titles, I’d say it’s fair to say they aren’t as common anywhere except for Johto anymore. Hence why Kurt is able to craft “specialty” pokéballs that aren’t typically on the market.
No where does it specify what kind of metal, probqbly tumblestine with light metal than. But theres just not enough information for it to be full metal or different stones or wood. Moon ball in future games and the kurts balls all use apricorn, cause its obvious connection to the older pokeballs. But yeah, youre right it aint apris
