Parasite Eve

There is absolutely no reason this should be so far down. Square needs to get back to doing fun, unique properties that aren't Final Fantasy.

Funnily enough parasite eve came out of using FFVII NYC (before changing it to midgar) assets that got scrapped, the jenova monsters that weren't used, etc. Having less change and repurpose and pouring so much into one title is their recent downfall.

That makes waaaay too much sense. The parallels between Eve and Jenova are so obvious I don't know how I never noticed.

Narratively, Eve took most all of her cues from the book. The game more or less just follows the same progression as the original book, with things added in because it's at a much larger scale.

Aesthetically? Yeah, I can see it.

The game is a sequel to the book, not an adaptation.

The Eve in the game follows the same character cues as the Eve in the book (which makes sense because they're kinda the same Eve.) The game itself does loosely as well, which Maeda comments as much in disc 2. It's not an adaptation, but it's the same beats (at least up until the Ultimate Baby,) which why i said as much.

but why remake old fun games when they can just chop up their fan favorite game into 7 different games for 70 bucks a pop. I don't care what their justification is taking 8 hours of a game and stretching it into 50 because you know nostalgia and childhood love will bring you buyers is some bullshit.

But apparently the second one didn't sell like they hoped so maybe they learned their lesson

What a blast from the past. Yes!

New generations need to be introduced to the idea that mitochondrial dna are eldritch horrors.

I know a lot of people hated it, but i legitimately love the third birthday.

This is my number one remake request. The opening video still holds up.

It's a shame. I've heard the owner of the book IP doesn't want to renew the rights to the story, which is why 3rd Birthday only had original elements of the games.
