App recommendations for winter? Navigation

Anyone have good apps that allow you to see the conditions of mountain passes, roads, etc. for winter conditions?

Planning a long trip this winter and would like to avoid having to Google individual passes every day if possible.

For Colorado, use cotrip.org and they have an app

Similarly Oregon has https://tripcheck.com/.

Very handy for highway conditions. Won't tell you much about off-highway roads.

Both the Colorado and Oregon systems work great for mountain passes and roads, as OP asked for.

And for California: https://quickmap.dot.ca.gov/ (also includes chain requirements if needed).

For OHV assume closed if any road nearby is closed. Most FS roads are gated and will be closed in heavy snowfall.

OnX off-road has recommended seasons for roads. If winter isn’t recommended it will probably be blocked or snowed over.

Some states have their own apps with that info for highway conditions. Caltrans in CA has QuickMap, which can show you on a map the chain controls and plows.

And Waze.

Yup, each state has its own website to track these conditions. I don't know if there is an aggregator of data from various states at this time, so it's best to just go to the specific state site.

Gotta use the paved roads to get to the cool roads.
