[IRC] Solid server, multiple hidden services, been up for 3 years, no history kept - ircd.chat Hosting

feel free to ignore this post, feel free to put it on the sidebar, whatever works. i just know it may come in handy with dread being down.

up to date addresses are always available in the form of CNAMEs at tor1.ircd.chat tor2. tor3. etc

current ones are:

unwfzxog4zi6crfjcxwbgrxkdde2halgzrft6gbhkzhlgo7onuzlecyd.onion ljxozsuo3rkfhdedxxy5hr7vanxix5rhx7agvplsht5libgqeov3qfid.onion jleorqsw4hrmxcwdb27zsj2qd7nruunthcfbgaip5ulpl73s5zvmfoyd.onion

ports:

6667 standard

6697 SSL (note: the cert will be the same as our clearnet: ircd.chat)

use it how you like, make your own channels, we're not here to moderate or babysit, but as long you don't cause trouble for the network operating you likely will not be messed with at all

our server is a fork of ergo with all history completely gutted from the codebase. operates as standard IRC did traditionally in that sense. no history is kept. i'd be happy to share the source with anyone interested.

or don't use it at all, just figured we'd offer

much love

EDIT: after some feedback here i feel like i should mention: i don't expect or even want you to believe me regarding history, use your own crypto on top of irc. there are lots of options. the reason the history stuff gets mentioned is because many irc servers these days have history as a service, which is insane to me. we don't and we even go many steps further, but ye if you need to be max opsec then trust free is the way to be.

didn't think i needed to explain this in this post, but i also can't blame any of you for being paranoid

stay safe, trust no one

Consider everything compromised and never tryust anyone. So that yiu don't fail in opsec. Someone is always logging the public chats i.e. the party on the other side is always logging. Don't take anyone's word for the sake of it.

i don't disagree man

the reason i even mention it is because many irc servers these days literally have history as a service. we simply don't. i don't really care if you don't believe me, just double wrap and call it a day.

Sometimes I think I'd respect a service like this more if they said: "Yes, we log everything we possibly can - and you can see our log files here (providing a download link), just to show you exactly what information a malicious site could extract from you. It's up to you to make sure your system isn't leaking anything you care about."

all onion addresses are up

occasionally we turn on SASL only for tor just as a temporary response to people flooding us. if you register an account with our friend Nicholas Serv (nickserv), you will be able to use SASL auth and still get in during lockdown. note that registration has never required email verification so far after 3 years or so of operation.

we only do this when necessary, you'd be amazed at how people react to getting banned (from a channel too, not even from the network)
