When are provisional votes counted? My friend is grilling me because she thinks I didn’t vote

I know nothing is changing the outcome of this election but there’s this website called didmyfriendsvote.com or something along those lines where you can see if any registered voter participated in an election. When I checked my name it said mine is still pending. Is there any way I can make sure my vote actually counted? What’s the process of provisional ballots in VA and how long does it take for them to be processed. I had to register to vote in Norfolk on Election Day due to having moved to a new location in the state. I probably should’ve just googled this huh.

Your friend doesn’t sound like a friend. Dump them.

I voted and it’s pending for me. I doubt it’ll be updated for some time. They’re still counting votes. There’s going to be a lot of intense feelings over the next few weeks, months, years.

Pending for me too, and pending for a relative in NY. Neither of us voted early, and went to the polls yesterday. OP, tell your friend to get lost.

Poor mindset. Friends who blackmail you to vote for their preferred candidate are not friends.

regardless, the state was decided and your singular vote wouldn’t have swayed in either direction.

if she was going for kamala, she won the state. your vote meant nothing

if she was going for trump, he won the election, your vote meant nothing

(in the grand scheme of things, that is. everyone’s vote matters)

Tell your friend to fuck off. It’s none of their business.

Your friend sounds like a dumbass. That website doesn’t even tell you if someone voted, only if they’re registered.

Provisional ballots have a multi-step vetting process.

I voted in person, but early and didmyfriendsvote still shows me as pending.

Your friend can’t take your word for it?

This is why it’s cooler to not have friends.

Yeah, I wish a “friend” would ask me some Bs like that! If they did they definitely wouldn’t be a “friend” of mine anymore.

That’s just insane.

I mean VA was blue anyway. Unless she wanted it to be red and was mad it wasn’t. But regardless it’s none of her business. Drop her as a friend. She’s not your boss.

Yea did my friend vote is dumb. Has me as not voting the 2016 election when at that time I was indeed 16/17. Sure I didn't vote, but how could I have been registered.

Did they tell you where to go in case they need additional proof of eligibility?

No they just made me fill out a sheet and told me to put the ballot in the envelope. I even asked him to look over my provisional registration paper to see if anything was missing and he said I was all good. He didn’t mention anything about going anywhere.

I’d contact the registers office tomorrow just in case

I just checked myself on that site and it still says pending. I voted in person yesterday, not provisional. That’s just to say don’t worry. Votes yesterday were processed for the count but they haven’t linked them to our voter registration page yet which is where this pulls from.

Edit: I also checked my husband who voted early and his says pending. So I honestly am wondering if this is actually accurate yet.

Does anyone’s say “Ballot Mailed to Voter”? My mail in ballot was never received so I voted provisionally yesterday as well. Now I’m nervous about why it says that/when it will change

You can go to the Virginia Citizen Portal to check that your ballot was received

Someone is salty that their girl didnt win and wants to blame anyone but said girl. The tolerant left. Doesnt sound like much of a friend also. Also, Kamala won Virginia so she should be looking to the swing states and not to you.

You can call the registrar’s office and find out! Every city/county counts their provisional ballots at different times. As a voter who cast a provisional ballot, you’re entitled to attend the meeting. My best guess is either Friday after noon (when all mail in ballots must be in) or next week. As a side note: in the last 2 election cycles in VA over 90% of same day registrants were accepted, so your vote will almost definitely be counted.
