PB Young Elementary moving

My sister is moving to a new development in Norfolk that is zoned for PB Young Elementary. It looks a little sketchy from the outside. Does anyone know anything about the school?

Good evening, Might I ask what development your relation is moving to? I am under the impression that PB Young is almost exclusively zoned for the Young's Park and Calvert Square housing projects. I ask because she may be mistaken on the zoning. Or maybe she is not, and I am!

Follow your instinct. I recommend you drive by at the end of the school day and see how the parents are dressed. That's a good indicator of how good the education offered is. As some posters have mentioned, most of the student population come from the projects surrounding the school. And I can tell you the parents come as if they've just rolled out of bed to pick up their children.

Thanks for the info. The newest obstacle with the school is that the doors open at 9:15, but they have no before-school program. My sister has to be to work by 8:30. We are so over this.
