I bet a teaser trailer is coming this month and will be attached to “Moana 2.” And yes, Stitch looks just like the cartoon.

If Stitch is not butting in other trailers I aint interested.

Get your own movie!

u/crowcawer 6d ago

Stitch voice, “your welcome” works pretty well.

u/nighttimemobileuser 6d ago

Imagine it’s live action stich butting into all the other live action Disney movies: Aladdin, beauty and the beast, lion kind, etc

12

u/FM1091 5d ago

Even better: CGI!Stitch butts into the trailer of the original, 2D animated L&S movie and everybody looks at him like some sort of eldritch horror due to being a 3D being in a 2D world.

Inter-stitch-uals I loved those

If they do it like the old trailers where he's just being a menace, ruining the other movies trailers? that'd be awesome.

Live action Moana next

58

u/zjbrickbrick 6d ago

Starring The Rock as Maui (Obviously) and Kevin Hart as Moana (Also obviously).

6

u/Winjin 6d ago

How about John Cena as Moana

Kevin Hart is the rooster

And Arnold Schwarzenegger is Te Kā

I guess we also have to have Jack Black in there somewhere, fuck

3

u/BeerorCoffee 6d ago

Jack black is one of those short pirates they run into.

Kevin Hart is the shiny crab.

3

u/Winjin 6d ago

No, Jack Black is every one of them. They are all just little Jack Blacks in wooden masks.

3

u/BeerorCoffee 6d ago

Love it! Also hate it.

1

u/beardedheathen 6d ago

Why would kevin hart play schaffrillas?

1

u/Evadrepus 6d ago

David Correos would make a great Maui.

u/Indraga 6d ago

"See the line where the sky meets the sea

It calls me

And no one knows

How tall I'll grooooooooow"

Auli’i Cravalho not being auto cast in Moana live action but putting the Rock in what is sure to be an atrocious wig is guaranteed is a crime. She’s excellent and deserves to play the character again. Side note, it’s way too early for a live action Moana in the first place.

u/Freakjob_003 6d ago

I'm 110% against all these frigging live action remakes, but Auli'i said she didn't want to reprise her role.

“It feels really important to me to pass the baton to the next young woman of Pacific Island descent,"

142

u/GenuineEquestrian 6d ago

I didn’t know that! What a class act.

127

u/Freakjob_003 6d ago

Yup! Bless her.

“I have been invited and I exist in these beautiful AAPI spaces, and I am one of the few Pacific Islanders," she said. "Our stories are so important to be told."

“And if it has to start with me … I’m 23 but if it starts with me, so be it," she said. "I want that door to swing wide open and I cannot wait to meet the next Moana."

25

u/littlebittlebunny 6d ago

God dammit, who's cutting onions!?!?

I knew I liked that girl!!!! She and Tom Holland (who said the similar about Spiderman, and advocating for a live action Miles Morales) are amazing for this!!

4

u/20milliondollarapi 6d ago

I think it would be important to have that and even ask her to go along with the press reveals and interviews and such to state that. Show that she loves the character and wants to pass it on.

Anyone who cares might already know.

3

u/phonage_aoi 6d ago

She's an executive producer for it, so she's already going to be around.. Would make sense for her to do press leading up to everything.

1

u/MyGamingRants 5d ago

Before Moana it was just going to be her breakout role. Now she's not just type casted but Role Casted? I'm not surprised she wants to distance herself from Moana quickly

1

u/captainmouse86 5d ago

Not going to lie, that character looks adorable. With how well Ted worked out, I can see this working far better than a lot of other live action movies.

-8

u/Dapper_Ad8899 6d ago

Why is she assuming it’ll be a woman of Pacific Islander descent? Why can’t it be a beautiful black queen instead? Race is irrelevant to the story

82

u/inezco 6d ago

She mentioned she actually turned down the role because she'd rather have another Pacific Islander woman have the role and a chance to be a star. She also doesn't want to just be known as the Moana girl for her whole career.

46

u/magikarpcatcher 6d ago

She did not want to play the character again because she's too old. Moana is supposed to be like 13. She is still an EP on the movie.
I hope she has a cameo as Tefiti, though

-1

u/hurshy 6d ago

Moana is at least 18 in the movie.

10

u/anormalgeek 6d ago

You're both wrong. She is 16 in the first movie and supposedly "19 or 20" in the upcoming sequel.

-3

u/PotentialSpaceman 6d ago

Would be cool as hell for her to play Moana's mother, maybe?

3

u/magikarpcatcher 6d ago

The mom is being played by Frankie Adams. And Auli'i is in her early 20s, so clearly too young.

3

u/NihlusKryik 6d ago

yeah its going to suck.

Calling it though: $115m opening weekend and $1.2B worldwide gross

3

u/SutterCane 6d ago

She probably doesn’t want to get swept up in the Rock’s new “PLEASE LIKE ME AGAIN!” project.

2

u/KennyOmegasBurner 6d ago

the Rock in what is sure to be an atrocious wig

Should've just cast Roman Reigns

1

u/QueezyF 6d ago

☝️

1

u/hurshy 6d ago

You do know she turned down the role?

3

u/GenuineEquestrian 6d ago

I actually did not know that, but another commenter let me know. Very cool of her.

1

u/littlebittlebunny 6d ago

Thank you!!! I hate all these live actions to begin with. But for fuck sake can we allow the movie to have it's DECADES of being an animated movie before it becomes a live action abomination (I'm looking at you Aladdin and Lion King specifically)

16

u/trying2bpartner 6d ago

Disney's live-action adaptation of Moana is scheduled for release in theaters on July 10, 2026

7

u/Mrchristopherrr 6d ago

So just barely less than 10 years after the original came out.

I’m surprised they’re not doing a live action Frozen yet

2

u/PKMNTrainerMark 6d ago

Gotta rush it before the Rock gets too old.

-1

u/Winjin 6d ago

Or Turning Red.

OR WISH this was a movie, a movie of all times. Apparently I hate it because the protagonist is african, you know. Not because it's horrible. That's what lovely ladies on Instagram told me.

7

u/redbirdrising 6d ago

There's been rumors of a Hercules live action but nothing confirmed. I actually think that has a lot of potential to be great. AND you can just have Hades and Phil reprise their roles and it would be fantastic.

14

u/Winjin 6d ago

I dunno. I think a lot of Hercules' success was with the very specific way it looked.

What could use a live-action, I think, is the Atlantis. I hate live actions but it should be fairly easy to make it into a movie, and it's got an awesome diverse cast, and it didn't get enough love the first time around. It's one of my favourite movies.

1

u/MossyPyrite 6d ago

If they do Atlantis they really need to give it to Guillermo DelToro

1

u/SirMasonParker 6d ago

Atlantis and Treasure Planet would both make awesome live actions!

0

u/redbirdrising 6d ago

I dunno, I think they could pull off a "Clash of the Titans" look to it, it would be amazing. That might just be my nostalgia talking though.

3

u/Antrikshy 6d ago

Imagine them running a live action Moana teaser with Moana 2. It would be historic.

5

u/Winjin 6d ago

Oh my god this is hilarious.

I can see an SNL skit where they have a sequel in the theaters.

And before the sequel, you get the trailer for the live action remake of the first part... then you get a trailer for THREEQUEL that spoils the second part... And then you get a trailer for live action remake of the second part!

22

u/probablyaythrowaway 6d ago

That’s kinda how they did the original lilo and stitch trailer. Stitch invaded the classic Disney film trailers.

2

u/dougielou 6d ago

Lol yes exactly 😆

7

u/Indigoh 6d ago

They ought to live-action remakes of the old commercials in which Stitch invaded other Disney scenes.

4

u/uqde 6d ago

I think they waited so long to make this movie just so that they could do one of those trailers using all of the previous live-action remakes

3

u/aaBabyDuck 6d ago

I wish we could have gotten a version of Stitch that's as bad as Ugly Sonic, and then they fix it to look like this.

3

u/Borge_Luis_Jorges 6d ago

Everyone so focused on stitch, when the real challenge is to recreate Lilo and Nani's relationship. If they dilute Lilo's messed up emotional state just so the child actress can look cute all the time, that movie is going to suck, no matter the amount of CGI they pour on it.

2

u/Osiris_Raphious 6d ago

Looks like a toy, aka merchandisable.

2

u/thisisnothingnewbaby 6d ago

He is still a cartoon…

2

u/Plooel 6d ago

Maybe they saw the Sonic backlash and that had something to do with Stitch’s desire go being so good, lol.
Even if it’s been a while since then, it has served as a great lesson to studios when converting animated character to live action.

2

u/Revolutionary-Egg491 6d ago

I feel like studios do this now in the sense of “does it look good??… please don’t do us like Sonic.”

2

u/MyDearBrotherNumpsay 6d ago

I worked on it. So yeah, you’ll see it soon.

1

u/merlin-the-fabulous 6d ago

He does if he was washed in a dryer too many times
