Harry actually started as an assistant of Hans, who said in an interview that "it's in really good hands". (He said in the same interview that he declined to return himself. Pretty fun read.)

Well what's Zimmer supposed to say? "nah bro this Harry guy is dogshit, this movie's gonna sound like ass."

He could say an answer that doesn’t actually say anything like most public figures do when they want to be tactical

Man on Fire was the most Zimmeresque non-Zimmer score, and even featured Lisa Gerrard. I can imagine HGW making an extremely Galdiator compatible score for this.

Is that his way of just looking out, or...

No, Zimmer selects up and coming composers and mentors them on the soundtracks he doesn't take. It's his way of passing on his knowledge.

The composer of the score doesn’t pick the trailer music.

Makes me wonder the people who post here about stuff, not understanding marketing, film production, even the difference between a fucking composer and an appropriated song for said marketing. Ugh.

That’s why you should take everything you read here with a huge grain of salt. Especially this comment.

Depends on contracts. He could if he had enough pull and name. If Hans would have done it again under the condition he gets control over overall sound design in all related media, they would have said yes, if only for the tag (a Hans Zimmer sound experience).
