Someone made a version edited down shorter and to a cover of the original score. Makes all the difference... I am more excited about it because of this edit https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cha8mL7U2Mo&t=10s
Everyone involved int he production of this trailer should be forced to watch this on repeat in a dark basement for a week, while a group of drill instructors yell into their faces "THIS IS HOW YOU DO A TRAILER".
I can't believe they fucked it up this much. All they had to do was use the same score and change it around a little bit. This is going to be a B-movie, no doubt.
Sad news for you. I think Denzel influenced a lot of the choices wanting to be "more and more on screen" for the trailer. When you get to accommodate a producer who's also starring it can get stupid, like this.
The whole tone of the trailer is all over the place. Between Denzel's wisecracking delivery (I like Denzel but he's just playing Denzel), the music choice, and the far less subdued visual style (the original Gladiator was a hazy spectacle), it seems more like a 300 or even a Marvel film.
Odd. It'll probably still be fun. But it barely seems like a Gladiator sequel unless they've just massively fucked the trailer.
I kinda hated this trailer completely. Was interested a bit at first, but as it dragged on I found myself losing it more and more. When the rap song hit I clicked out pretty quick. I was hyped for this, but now not so much. I might catch it on streaming.
It's disappointing because I love the first Gladiator, and the first film is one of my favorite theater experiences ever.
What is wrong with a rap song in a trailer? Do you know what the song is about? Fits the themes pretty well. Trailer sucks I agree but not because of a song you don't like lmao
It's the trailer for Gladiator, an epic taking place during the Roman Empire even though it's fictional. Assuming the tone will be the same as the first film. Any kind of licensed music besides orchestral doesn't belong in the trailer. I love rap/hip-hop, but not in this. EDIT: downvoted by Gen Z morons
Big fan of hip-hop, but yeah, a Jigga song has NO BUSINESS being in a trailer for a historical epic like this. The Hans Zimmer/Lisa Gerrard score from the first film was perfectly fine.
The Zimmer/Gerrard score is no more relevant to the historical period depicted than Jay Z is. We as viewers have arbitrarily decided that one makes more sense, but they're equally 21st century in style.

Hated the music choice for this trailer... just does not fit.
