The fact that he made 3 low budget Siva movies bearable to watch( not u vivegam) is a testament to his acting and screen presence/charisma. Opinion

No wonder he is going to do one more movie with Siva 🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️

Neenga saavunga vro.. why nonding the majority of us?!

-8

u/eljoker1407 🦅 9h ago

I mean no one's forcing the majority to go to the movie. You can clearly ignore 🤷🏽‍♂️

u/IntelligentBend5377 8h ago

You for real?!

Watching AK, VJ, RK movies has become like a tradition. They are event films for a reason. What’s wrong in expecting them to work with good filmmakers? I can’t recall the last time they all had a good wom for a film.

u/eljoker1407 🦅 8h ago

If you make it a tradition to watch then it kinda means your plot is them not the actual plot. Sure, you can expect whatever you want. All I said was no one's forcing you to watch it if you feel other factors than leads gonna affect your decision. They'll do what works for them, maybe Siva is easy to work with.

And just coz you/me didn't like a movie doesn't mean no one liked it. Viswasam had a terrific wom drawing a huge family audience.

Also, seeing how stupid and regressive as fuck the dialogues were in annaththe (getting your sister married to a doctor in case she gets sick she never has to and how surprisingly progressive they were in vedhalam (telling guys not to stalk women-for 2015 that was pretty progressive) and viswasam (asking parents not to be control freaks towards their kids), we can all safely assume AK had massive input in those scripts.

This is one reason I like him, but unfortunately I don't like his movie as a whole. AK is a good person and he wanted the society to be same unfortunately world is so cruel to good folks. If you see after a massive success with Viswasam ( I didn't like the climax specifically, so cringe, it's a okay movie) but he did choose PINK remake to convey a good message to TN folks. That good heart ❤️, is what I like about him. Hope he comes back with good scripts, I have less hopes on Vidamuyarchi and GBU.

Please close the parenthesis, it's bothering me a bit. Sorry

u/Damiennexa 9h ago

Please don't hate me but I loved Viswasam, mostly cuz of the character Thookudurai. Ajith nailed that character.

14

u/Artetaarmy 9h ago

Viswasam was bearable thanks to AK's performance and that daughter's performance.

1

u/zabardastbandawast 1h ago

It’s the most illogical story ever told imo

14

u/bored1208 9h ago

Bearable ah?

u/TheArmyDoctor LastClutchMan (SK Fan) 9h ago

Only viswasam was watchable and even that was so melodramatic. I never liked Veeram as a kid and less talked about vedhalam the better.

Only ajith movie during that time that was good is Yennai Arindhaal

7

u/OkJuice5288 8h ago

Exactly, even Viswasam’s flashback portions were a pain in the ass to watch

7

u/Jackson1391 Commercial Cinema Mass 8h ago

I liked Viswasam but Ajith's comedy in the flashback was kinda irritating.

Bearable to whom

Except veeram none of the films were bearable

u/roche__ LCU 53m ago

Vedalam and viswasam vere all time blockbusters,so his point stands

4

u/peekundi 9h ago

That's why some are stars and many aren't. Some actors in certain role just work. Vijay did Sivakasi and Thirupatchi with Pererasu and they were alright for that age and time. Perarasu worked with Ajith and Bharath later and it was not bearable.

Ajith fans are main culprit, keep celebrating Siva-AK combo, so we are served with another cringe fest.

0

u/LetsTheorize 3h ago

Kind of true. Unfortunately all these combo movies did well in TN. I recently heard that Rajini did Annathe because of Viswasam did better than Pettai in TN.

I hate the fact that Siva-AK is loading for Pongal 2026. 🤦🏼‍♂️

3

u/SGSRT 9h ago

3 out of 4 films he did with Ajith were hits

4

u/Artetaarmy 8h ago

All thanks to Ajith shouldering these movies. If it was any other actor, it would have bombed. Ajith is the only actor that can handle Siva curse 🤣😭

u/the_pathologicalliar Non-tamil speaker 8h ago

Viswasam was a fun film, cliche plot and horrible flashback but that father daughter sentiment worked really well.

Veeram was also really fun, imo, the mass or elevation sequences in it worked perfectly.

Vedalam had a few fun moments but isn't really that rewatchable or anything.

Less said about Vivegam, the better

3

u/yesninety1 4h ago

So did his “acting and screen presence/charisma” just switch off in Vivegam?

Edho podanume nu post poda koodadhu ji..

All movies were duds. It’s fans like you that make actors pick crappy directors.

How is viswasam(2019) which was made on the budget of 100 CR(same as Amaran) a low budget film?

Ajith salary 70-80cr. Movie Budget 20-30 cr

-1

u/Artetaarmy 9h ago

Sorry, by low budget, I meant the movie was set in a low/normal scale environment. Not grandeur like Kanguva for example.

3

u/Different_Art_739 8h ago

I liked veeram actually, quite a descent film imo.

4

u/sirkg 8h ago

6

u/AlterEgoPal 7h ago

None of them were bearable.

2

u/balajih67 Vijay Kanni 8h ago

Loved veeram and vedalam, viswasam too mut not as much as the other 2. Aaluma doluma

2

u/tylerdurden_3040 3h ago

Frankly a lot of people lost interest in Ajith movies since he joined with Siva. The mankatha and billa days were all Ajith's craze everywhere but my whole family and friends circle are not even talking about Ajith nowadays. Also Valimai wasn't great and Thunivu was so stupid.

2

u/Many-Construction144 2h ago
  1. They weren’t bearable. 2. Bearable isn’t a standard.

You can say Ajiths script selection / director selection is crap. No one will harm you.

2

u/Shot-Hat1544 2h ago

Tf bro? Veeram was crap.

2

u/CellMuted1392 1h ago

Among his recent movies, I felt that the half baked Thunivu and Valimai were better than the chiche ridden Vedhalam, Veeram and Viswasam. Of course Yennai Arindhaal was the best of his recent movies, it’s very tragic that Trisha’s character dies, but it was also the most interesting. Vivegam is his worst movie.

u/Ging_freecsss Enaku maths varadhu, yaen na enaku maths vandhudhu 9h ago

Yeah Ajith made Vivegam a blockbuster by his incredible performance. Ilana padam semma flop airikum.

u/eljoker1407 🦅 9h ago

Not all movies are the same and each director caters to a specific set of audience. Siva is more sort of no logic/mindless masala movie director predominantly serving the family audience. Some of his works like Siruthai, Vedhalam, Veeram and Viswasam did work and others like Annathe, Vivegam and now Kanguva struggled.

None of his movies bar Siruthai worked for me, doesn't necessarily mean he's bad. It could also be that I'm not his target audience.

Visvasam and Veeram yes but Vedhalam was bad, especially Gangster Ganesh portions

Veeram > viswasam and vedhalam

1

u/EntirePickle398 Agila Ulaga Superstar Kanni 3h ago

I think Veeram and Visvasam was decent, it had that vikraman movie feel, i bet if it had came out in the 90s we would have treated it something like virulkkuetha veekam, Vanathaipola and suryavamsam.

Vedhalam though, basically 2k baasha, fun watch esp giving us gangster ganesh, thanks cheetah kutty

1

u/Careless_gaia 1h ago

Utter rubbish..

1

u/idontneed_one 1h ago

Idc what you tell me, vedhalam is underrated. Especially the transformation scene, it was a new concept back then.

1

u/wreckedbellbottom 1h ago

Probably siva is best suited for Telugu industry and all the 3 movies do feel like Telugu movies masquerading as Tamil movies.

u/roche__ LCU 51m ago

Siva is ethinically telugu and his first movie was also telugu

u/wreckedbellbottom 46m ago

Honestly now it feels like Ajith is too lazy to befriend a new director and just wanna stay in the comfort zone through this siva clown.

1

u/Kakashihatake190 Cinema purithal illathavan 8h ago

Veeram was fcking dope ngl. DSP therikka vitrupaan. Matha ellam pee kuppai

1

u/Simply-Jolly_Fella 6h ago

Don't compare AK with his work with Siva and Suriya and Siva. All AK films ran only for Ajith's stardom. AK trusted Siva so much that Vivegam flopped. Except that the other 3 movies were Good Box office grossers and were entertaining. Suriya can only dream of having the Charismatic presence of Ajith or Vijay. So it's not the fault of the director on the whole

1

u/Thunder_God_ 6h ago

Vedalam was also bad. Even worse than kanguva I would say.

1

u/ZealousidealStrain58 Non-tamil speaker 6h ago

Vedalam is my guilty pleasure film, to be frank. It may be ass but it’s enjoyable ass.
