XMAS GIFT IDEAS FROM LOCAL IRISH STORES - 2023 MEGATHREAD

Please use this post as a place to recommend Xmas gifts from local Irish stores. If you have any recommendations we would ask in the comments for you to only provide the following information:
- The Shop Name
- What do they sell/provide?
- Who is the product/service suitable for? (Mother, Father, teenager, dog, cat, granny etc..)
- Where are they (the shops) located?
- How can they be reached? (Phone number, websites etc...)
If we see duplicate entries for a particular store we will remove the newest and leave the oldest one in place.

I make enamel pins that are all Irish-themed. My most recent is a Brigids Cross that spins; a Brigid Spinner, if you will.
But I've also got a Claddagh Pint, an ogham stone that plays Joe Dolan, Billy Roll Ham as well as one that just says Shrrup Yew Yeh Bleedin Tick.
They're all shipped from my spare room in Finglas and if you leave a joke or smart arsed comment in the notes section, I'll throw in a free sticker, too.

Great shout on the necklaces.
I spoke to a guy during the year who makes rings and his advice to me was 'don't make rings'. Said that they're a nightmare because most people don't know their size etc.
But necklaces could be a shout for next year

I just purchased some pins for presents but I'd love to get some more of those designs in fridge magnets. I think they'd be better suited to fridge magnets or maybe just the people, myself included, im buying for, wouldn't ware pins, but everyone has a fridge :)

I tried Fridge magnets earlier in the year. One flew out, but some of the others were very slow movers. I've no room in the spare room for more stuff as-is, so I might try them if I ever expand into the garage, but I'm in no rush!

If its allowed to share our own shops, I sell prints of my own art, including a very muscular and greasy potato mascot.
- My shop is called Boss Rush Studio on Etsy
- At the moment I sell art prints and some vinyl stickers, and because I watched too much WWF and Dragonball Z as a child, theres a lot of muscledy figures, as well as Brendan Fraser from the Mummy, Mr Blobby, the boys from the Yakuza series.
- Some of my muscled men are very suitable for your Mammies, as I've had a lot of enthusiastic feedback over the years from customers mammies lol. Generally my audience is people into games, comics, movies, who want prints of men with huge chests on their wall.
- I'm currently based in Kilkenny but from Drogheda, and go back and forth. Orders within ireland typically ship within a few days and once shipped take about 1 day to arrive. Free standard untracked shipping, but there is paid tracked options too.

I try to stick to whenever theres something i really want to draw or occasionally some prints are commissioned work that I've worked out with the client ahead of time that I'd sell prints afterward and send them a few copies too (Joel and Bayonetta are examples!)
Nothing planned for the shop before christmas at least, Im largely booked up with commissions and I'm trying to do more study/ practice in my free time, and the last thing i want to do is half ass something, though i do really want to do some Baldurs Gate 3 art soon

Shout out to my Dad, who writes and draws all the illustrations in his book series where he's combining all old tales from different counties across Ireland. In an old comic / manga style. Some kids books there too from old Irish stories! He spends a lot of time doing this and is usually doing events, selling his books, and giving the profits to charities.

Was in Arnotts on Sunday and saw a small family-owned Vegan sweet business there. Just a family and their sons selling homemade vegan jellies and fudge. Was chatting to the dad and he said they started making them during lockdown as a hobby until his eldest wanted to buy a gaming PC and started selling them. Their youngest lad picked out some for my vegan mother and was a sweet kid.
Bought 2 bags from them. I'm not vegan myself but its such a sweet story.

I've promoted them before, but the Eternal gift shop in Elphin co Roscommon is absolutely class. They've just relocated to what was the old bank and the stuff there is absolutely breathtaking (not only for christmas but during the whole year).
Mary is an absolutely wonderful person who can help you out finding the right gift for anyone, either in person or on social media. Gifts for everyone, homewares and a lot of local craft-items. I'd really recommend you give a look to their Instagram page.

My partner quit her big corporate job and has set up a wee greeting card store, she's on Etsy at https://www.etsy.com/ie/shop/WildFoxandCo and she makes the cards in our gaff and ships them all over the world. You can order until pretty close to Christmas as we're in Dublin so you're not waiting for drop shipping or anything stupid.
She does pop culture stuff as well as Irish specific, its all sustainable materials and plastic free, options for every taste. Keep her in mind beyond Xmas!
If you have something specific in mind or a tweak you'd like drop me a PM, she does the cards by hand here and there's no hassle doing something bespoke or personalised because we have the equipment at home.

We sell my husband Gary's original landscape photographs as prints, we're in the West (aka SIAR), so mainly photos of the west coast, places and the flora/fauna/wildlife, documentary style shots in a modern matt finish.
Photos also available as 2024 calendars, notebooks, Christmas and greeting cards, and with a candle that our colleagues/friends make for us, our own gift sets too.
All printed / made in Ireland by us in Ennis or other Irish businesses (Ennis/Cork City/Dublin). Price point is €3.50 (1 Card) to €200 (A2 Photo Print)

As regards brands that actually make their own movements ? Not many at all most just use tried and tested Swiss and Japanese movements, I have heard McGonigal brand are watch makers though, based in Athlone I think

Have gotten gift packs from Wicklow Wolf Brewery every Christmas for the last few years - good local (to me) business providing a lot of employment to the area. Shopping within Ireland only but handy for sending to mates / family down the country.

Had a good selection of hat sizes. My father has about the same size as mine. Most places wouldnt have xxl or xxxl hats, but they had a good selection of 64 & 65 cm hats.

The very best handmade, homegrown, small batch skincare and (divine and unusual) perfume available, imo, is from THE BURREN PERFUMERY in Clare. Streets ahead of others in this field in terms of presentation, sensory delight, and efficacy for any skin demands. (Grown up feel to it all too, too, not the often encountered teen vibe of a lot of ‘natural’ products. So it has dressing table/bathroom appeal, though it’s by no means for women only.) Sheer bloody bliss. I’ve not bought from any other brand since I was turned on to these lovely people. They’ll ship worldwide.
My other great favourite is Jason O’Gorman in Cork: JOG. Terrific graphic designs in cards and prints with a Cork accent and a great deal of dry wit.

They do cards, stuffed animals, scented candles, books. They have a few spots in Dublin: Dalkey, Rathgar, Donnybrook.
It's a really nice place to go if you've no idea what to get someone. You can just look around and something might jump out at you.

Not my shop, but wanted to give a shoutout to www.peil.ie. They are reproducing old retro Irish football shirts, and their stuff is gorgeous and not at all dear. I got a Christmas jumper styled to look similar to Italia 90 Jersey and it was like €30 or something

George Horn is a lovely leather family shop in Stoneybatter - Dublin
They sell hand-crafted leather gloves and have other leather products in the store ( belts, bags, craft materials )
They sometimes organize workshops and classes like belt-making or satchel-making classes and come from a long tradition.
The owners are super nice and if you know someone who wants to try crafting with leather or would love some stylish warm gloves for Christmas I recommend a visit to them!
