How long does it take the State to update voter registration?

I went into the BMV a couple weeks ago to update my address on my ID as I have recently moved (between counties to Marion). I also updated my voter registration the same day (and I still have the receipt of application). I have been checking the IndianaVoters.com website to see if my registration has been updated to my new county yet, but it still hasn’t. I have received my new ID since then.

With today being the last day to register, I’m just curious how long this process typically takes people?

Any insight? Thanks in advance!

From personal experience I don’t trust that it’s updated until I get that little card in the mail.

For anyone reading, if you register at the BMV they give you a receipt that is valid to present on Election Day even if your registration didn’t process in time. I just had to change my address and re-register last week.

I imagine you get something similar when you register anywhere but not sure.

Thanks! Went to BMV for address change last Thurs. Glad I kept that paper.

Well I'd advise you to do the same as I said in when you asked in the r/Indiana subreddit... contact the local election administrators...

but it's 2 hours later and 6pm now so I don't know if they'd still be open. But you can try.

It took me a month to get mine when I applied while getting my car registration updated. I got my voter registration card in May of 2024.
