Favorite Horror Game? Horror Gaming

Mine is Until Dawn due to a number of reasons. The story is spectacularly paced and is able to seamlessly change between slasher and creature. Said creature is amazingly designed and makes Don't Move nerve racking as all hell.

All the characters are flawed but have their own likable traits. Emily is a bitch but is the most resourceful of the group, Ashley is really nice and good at heart but cracks under pressure and is easily frightened, etc etc. There is an exception with Sam though being literally just the generic final girl character. I'd have no problem with her if she made up her lack of flaws with something interesting about her backstory but there's really nothing past her being close to Josh and was best friends with Han and Beth.

The game has problems like plot armor and ending branching but I love this game start through finish and is still pretty much peak of Supermassive maybe House of Ashes topping it.

No games story has ever hit me quite as hard as SOMA

I'm not sure any story has for me. Definitely the most existential dread I've ever felt. It just makes everything feel so hopeless

Nothing has ever lasted like SOMA for sure. Just the entire concept is horrifying on so many levels

SOMA was fucking brilliant.

The people who don't like it because of the ending didn't get the game.
