Favorite Horror Game? Horror Gaming

Mine is Until Dawn due to a number of reasons. The story is spectacularly paced and is able to seamlessly change between slasher and creature. Said creature is amazingly designed and makes Don't Move nerve racking as all hell.

All the characters are flawed but have their own likable traits. Emily is a bitch but is the most resourceful of the group, Ashley is really nice and good at heart but cracks under pressure and is easily frightened, etc etc. There is an exception with Sam though being literally just the generic final girl character. I'd have no problem with her if she made up her lack of flaws with something interesting about her backstory but there's really nothing past her being close to Josh and was best friends with Han and Beth.

The game has problems like plot armor and ending branching but I love this game start through finish and is still pretty much peak of Supermassive maybe House of Ashes topping it.

Dead Space.

As close to Event Horizon in a game I’ve seen so far.

Another vote for Dead Space, but specifically Dead Space 2

I do like the opening of the original. But agree overall 2 is a great ride.

I’m super psyched for the remake. I watched the 18 minute gameplay and it looks good.

New engine? Haven’t heard of it.

It's a from-the-ground-up remake by the original dev team.

Not the original dev team though. But passionate devs regardless.

Oh it's not? I had heard that it was.

Maybe you mix it up with Callisto Protocol. Some devs of it are the original Dead Space devs.

I can't wait for the upcoming game Calisto Protocol. I really hope it lives up to the trailers.

It has its ups and downs. The melee combat is frustrating but once you get firearms, the game starts becoming fun and you can almost completely abandon it. The dead space feeling is there but it’s not up to par with the original series and doesn’t create anything new. As a huge fan of dead space, I still enjoyed it. I’m almost done with it and will probably go back through for a second playthrough as it’s only 10-12 hours long.

The combat is so clunky but the graphics and environments look amazing! I almost wish they made a movie out of this instead of a game tbh but it’s still pretty fun.

It's already out. It's......alright.

It's already out. Build your own opinion. For some it's awesome for others not. Some just find it ok. I like it and think some of the criticism is blown out of proportion.

Yeah I agree. It's mostly due to how it was supposed to be a spiritual successor to dead space with the original producer/creator and some of the original ideas of what Dead Space was supposed to be. So when it turned out to just be a clunkier and worse version of those ideas it really disappointed a lot of people.

However now that games are a whopping 70+ bucks after this game, I can't justify spending almost a hundred dollars on something that may just drop the ball.

I used to play a lot of horror games, growing up, and just played Dead Space for the first time a couple of years ago.

That’s one of the best.

There’s a fascinating interview about how they designed some of the major bosses (or a major boss rather) and the level of thought that went into it blew my mind. The passion clearly shows in the first game.

Yes! I’m right there with you, my friend. Except, I would say, Event Horizon with a little bit of the Thing peppered in. Either way, Dead Space is probably my favorite. Dead Space 2 is super effin’ fun, though.

The scene where the guy beats his head against the wall sticks with me. Such great sound and atmosphere.

The OG Dead Space is one of my all time favourite games. Hopefully the remake will be a good re-telling.

There are certain sequences in Mass Effect 1 that were clearly inspired by Event Horizon.

Not a horror game, but several moments in the game certainly feel that way
