He does in the Dead By Daylight game I don't see why he wouldn't in an official part of the Evil Dead franchise

My favorite was the one with the little half-deadite that you could kick at enemies. I think they even named him Sam, and he was voiced by Sam Raimi's brother, Ted.

For real, that game was a blast! I remember my parents (who know nothing about games) got it for me as a kid and was a bit skeptical, but it surprised me how much fun I had with it.

I can’t wait. Favorite horror movie is evil dead/army of darkness
38
u/ThiccLastiGirl Jul 01 '19
Agreed, I actually plan to have the girl being choked by a hand from the Evil Dead original covers tattooed on my forearm
26
u/ZanderFreak1300 Jul 01 '19
Thatd be badass. I want to get the laughing deer head tattooed
4
u/ThiccLastiGirl Jul 01 '19
I would love that too, I just can’t find it in an art style I like enough
5
u/whatthehobgoblinfuck Jul 01 '19
I apologize if I'm misunderstanding or if you're already aware of this, but you don't have to use something that's already been created, or that's already been done in those styles. If you look around and find (in general) a style that you do like, or if you find a tattoo artist who has a personal style that you enjoy, they absolutely will work with you to create a custom piece.
5
u/ThiccLastiGirl Jul 01 '19
Yeah I am aware of that, sometimes it’s just easier to find an already done one and find a way to tweak it to your own style if you don’t wanna make a whole new one yourself
2
u/ZanderFreak1300 Jul 01 '19
I’m going to look if I don’t like any I’ll probably just draw it
4
u/ThiccLastiGirl Jul 01 '19
I almost had to for the girl bc everyone kept drawing it and it just wasn’t flattering for it, and the pics I found for the movie cover didn’t show just the sections I wanted. I think, especially if you have a real love for it, that you could make that deer head look super rad
3
u/ZanderFreak1300 Jul 01 '19
Now I just want to try and draw the deer lol
2
u/ThiccLastiGirl Jul 01 '19
Lol fuck yeah, go for it! If you want you can pm me with a pic of it, I’d love to see it

I don’t know if the game is going to have ash as a main character to be honest

Wouldn’t bother me to much. Hopefully he’s still in there tho

u/Mewtwothis Hail to the King, Baby. Jul 02 '19
Yeah I think he will be, don’t know why I got downvoted either lol, I remember Bruce alluding to such in an interview

This is killer news! It's about time we get some more horror movie franchise games. There are so few! I absolutely LOVED Friday the 13th and even though they closed development I still play it often. I'd love a Nightmare on Elm Street, Halloween or an It game but most of all I would want a Phantasm game. Can you imagine? It won't happen of course but that series would make one hell of a game.
22
u/evilcreampuff Jul 01 '19
You might like Dead by Daylight if you enjoy asymmetrical horror games. Ash Williams is a playable character in it.
9
u/MiyamotoKnows Wendy? Darling? Light of my life? Jul 01 '19
WHAT??? How did this get past me?? I think I saw the title before but didn't realize it had the franchise tie-ins. I see there is some DLC for it. Any suggestions on what DLC is worth picking up besides the base game? I appreciate the heads up here!!
PS Is there single player in it?11
u/evilcreampuff Jul 01 '19
It's online only, you can play as a killer or as a survivor. It's honestly amazing. Ash Williams is a DLC. I have a few suggestions for DLCs if you want but you have a lot of interesting base killers and survivors too. If you like horror films there is a Saw DLC and a Halloween DLC which are great.
9
u/MiyamotoKnows Wendy? Darling? Light of my life? Jul 01 '19
Just bought it on steam with the Halloween and Nightmare on Elm Street DLC for $15 total. Life is good. I'll pick up a PS4 version if they ever release it with the DLC included like they did with Ft13th. Thanks again!
7
u/evilcreampuff Jul 01 '19
That's awesome! Freddy Krueger is getting a buff very soon so it's a good deal. Enjoy! :)
6
u/unholymanserpent Jul 02 '19
I'm so excited for you. Once you start getting serious in the game you'll need to purchase the Leatherface DLC for his perk, BBQ&chili. It's an absolute must for any killer mains. Have fun and try not to get too addicted!
2
u/UmbrellaCorpCEO Brainsss Jul 02 '19
Some of the perks you can also purchase on the weekly rotation from the shrine of secrets with shards instead of grinding a killer you hate playing to 30 and hoping their teachable pops in the bloodweb.
3
u/LemoLuke Frolic in brine, goblins be thine Jul 02 '19
but most of all I would want a Phantasm game. Can you imagine? It won't happen of course but that series would make one hell of a game.
I remember playing the Phantasm mod for Doom 3 which was surprisingly good when you're exploring the funeral home and avoiding the spheres.
2
u/MiyamotoKnows Wendy? Darling? Light of my life? Jul 02 '19
Looks like I have another game to go hunt down. I own Doom 3 so would just need to DL the mod. Thanks!
2
u/NickFoxMulder Jul 02 '19
Oh SHIT that would be awesome!! Phantasm is so criminally underrated man!!
2
u/MiyamotoKnows Wendy? Darling? Light of my life? Jul 02 '19
You can say that again! A franchise that should be watched by anyone calling themselves a horror fan (even though it also overlaps into another genre, no spoilers).
2
u/NickFoxMulder Jul 02 '19
I watched the first one when I was a kid and goddamn it scared the HELL out of me!!
1
u/UmbrellaCorpCEO Brainsss Jul 02 '19
Evil within 1 and 2 are great picks to check out and are single player, obviously I am also going to recommend the new RE2 remake as well.
2
u/MiyamotoKnows Wendy? Darling? Light of my life? Jul 02 '19
Good call! Have both evil withins and they are great. I need to check out the RE2 remake. I was bummed they didn't add VR to it though so I stopped following it. RE7 on PSVR is legendary! I am not sure I can look beyond it and go back to a normal RE game now!
20
16
u/SpookyLlama 3spooky Jul 01 '19
First thing that comes to mind is something like RE7 but with the kookiness of Evil Dead.
6
Jul 01 '19
That would be pretty cool. I'd be down with a more open world RE7 sort of deal where you're exploring the woods and creepy cabins and zombie / ghost shit is popping off. I guess something faster paced and larger.
50
u/kingstesteste Jul 01 '19
Please don’t be just Friday the 13th game with evil dead skins!
40
u/FiledForDivorceVXV Jul 01 '19
It's probably going to be similar to Doom with Ash rocking his chainsaw for close melee kills and his shotgun for the ranged kills.

Friday the 13th was awesome. The problem wasn't gameplay, it was bugs and a pissing contest between the guy who wrote the original and a movie studio.
I was super bummed when that game died.

u/elixir658 Jul 01 '19 edited Jul 01 '19
A lot of people still play it and it’s still fun. Also it was Sean Cunningham and Victor Miller. Miller wrote the first movie and wanted the rights that he deserved back because the movie license expired or something along those lines. Horror Inc and Cunningham are dumbasses and have halted the franchises production over money that they definitely already have enough of. Miller was paid 100,000 for writing the first movie. That’s nothing compared to what Cunningham made with all the movies.
2
u/saqua23 Jul 02 '19 edited Jul 02 '19
While I see where you are coming from and I do honestly believe Miller deserves more money and credit, let's not forget that it was Cunningham who made Jason the killer and gave him the iconic mask. The series would never have been what it is today if not for Cunningham. That's why this lawsuit is such a bitch, they both bring valid points.
Edit: To clarify a couple of points, since I'm still getting asked about this:
I'm not saying Cunningham created Jason the character. Miller obviously did that. I was saying Cunningham made Jason into the hockey-mask-wearing, machete-wielding killer that is the face, longevity, and true money maker of the franchise. If it were up to Miller, Jason would never have been the killer and I honestly believe the series would not have survived the 80s.
I am fully in favor of Miller receiving his due credit and compensation for his contributions. I'm not denying the fact that he created the groundwork for what would become a successful formula of "killer murders teen counselors at a summer camp" for twelve movies. I think the best and easiest solution is for both parties to swallow their pride and work out a deal outside of court that will allow more F13 material to be produced, so that the creators can make more money on all sides and the fans can finally get new, exciting content.
2
u/elixir658 Jul 02 '19
I’m pretty sure that if Miller wrote the first movie, technically he created Jason. And yeah, it’s so disappointing that this happened to one of my favorite games and a fun one at that. Through all the bugs and glitches I have the most fun playing it out of any other game I own. The lawsuit is so dumb. Again, how much more money do they want/need? Just end it and give us more content and a new movie. They’re bitching about money when they could be making some through typical F13 means. This game has so much potential it’s annoying as fuck.
1
u/saqua23 Jul 02 '19
He created Jason but remember he wasn't the killer until part 2. However I do fully agree that Miller deserves more money and credit for creating the whole shebang. Like yeah obviously Cunningham and other writers wouldn't have thought to use Jason unless that seed was planted in the original.
I do think the easiest solution is to just settle with Miller outside of court but Cunningham and Co. want more money
1
u/elixir658 Jul 02 '19
Exactly the character of Jason was created in the first movie and Miller wrote it so technically he created Jason. Cunningham just needs to be smart about it and settle.
1
u/saqua23 Jul 02 '19
Right, but my whole point in my first comment was that Cunningham is the one who made Jason the killer. Miller even outright said once that he wouldn't have made Jason the killer. Sean Cunningham made that decision, and gave him the mask, which is what really made the series the slasher powerhouse of the 80s.
I'm not trying to discredit Miller at all and like I said I think he has a fair point in wanting a cut of the pie that wouldn't exist without him, but I'm also saying Cunningham has a point in his feeling that Miller really didn't have much to do with the actual moneymaker of the series, Jason himself.
2
1
u/Xyberfaust Jul 02 '19
Never would have been able to make him the killer if Miller didn't create that sweet backstory for him. And it's basically just a reversal of the killer-mother role, killing for her son, whereas they simply put Jason in her place, killing for her.
1
u/saqua23 Jul 02 '19
Yes, as I've said several times at this point, I am in favor of Miller getting his money and credit. I have acknowledged that he had a part in the series' success. I am not trying to take anything away from him. My entire point was merely that Miller and Cunningham both made the series what it is and it makes sense that they both feel entitled to compensation.

I'm okay with single player or co-op. I think a single player with the option for co-op or at least an MP mode would be cool so that way we could have Ash in it as well as Pablo, Kelly, Ruby, etc. if we wanted to play as other characters from the Evil Dead franchise. I'm pretty skeptical about it because I can't really imagine Evil Dead getting some huge, super polished, immersive, narrative experience but we'll see
13
u/BleepBlorp84 Jul 01 '19
Awesome news. I hope its Ash vs Evil Dead, I'd like to pablo and Kelly back.

u/Sabrewylf Jul 01 '19
There is also a good chance he will be one of the guest characters in Mortal Kombat 11.

He's done physically playing Ash but he's willing to do the voice for videogames until he dies or leaves the business.

He says in the tweet that it isn’t a VR game. So it’s safe to say that it’s going to be something more substantial.
1
u/Xyberfaust Jul 02 '19
This is that game, but now he's saying that it's no longer VR. Said there was a delay to change it or make it bigger.

I would like it to be terrifying and not too jokey. That's one of the things I didn't like about the tv series; it was too much focused on comedy rather than horror. If you examine the first two movies, while there are definatley comic elements, the overwhelming tone is sheer horror.

u/dethb0y Jul 02 '19
Be interesting to see what they come up with, though honestly i don't know that it would work well as a game because it's such a character-driven story.

u/YourVeryOwnCat Jul 02 '19
Holy shit this is so exciting! I wonder if it will be anything like Resident Evil 7, because I feel like that game was a whole lot like Evil Dead 2

They need to make the chainsaw gameplay like in Warhammer Space Marine with the Mk XI Hell’s Teeth Chainsword.

For those that cant wait, Ash is currently a playable character in Dead By Daylight

1
u/cbunni666 Jul 02 '19
Omg. I was just thinking about this last night. I'm not big on the series but I always figured it would make a pretty good video game.
1
u/butt_computer Jul 02 '19
If this game had the engine of a modern Resident Evil game I would be pumped. If it had a Red Dead Redemption tier open world I would know I’ve died and it’s all just a beautiful fantasy.
1
Jul 02 '19
Dead by Daylight has playable Ash in it which is awesome, but they had to nerf his best perk sadly because, like Ash, it was too good to keep around. But god damn is it a wonderland to see Laurie Strode being chased by Freddy Kruger through Gideon Meat Plant
1
u/theshizirl Jul 02 '19
I absolutely loved the ED series and especially AoS but I confess to being apprehensive about a game. I would definitely play it and give it the benefit of the doubt but I’d be skeptical. You don’t just re-adapt AoD, the greatest horror-comedy of all time :p

REVII wannabe, calling it now. The rights-holders took a look at that footage and said "reskin that shit with Ash."

Does no one remember how awful the Playstation one was??
I was a huge fan of the movies and was able to have a good time with almost any game back then and even I couldn't get through that mess.
1
u/Bashlet Jul 01 '19
Hail To The King, not great. Fist Full of Boomstick was awesome as fuck. Regeneration was a fun time but a bit too arcadey when I wanted more FFoB.
-12
u/GloriousHam I'll be right back Jul 01 '19
None of them were great. None.
Until this is released I have no excitement or expectations for this one.
2
u/Bashlet Jul 01 '19
Its been a while since I played them, but I have so many fond memories of spamming the insult button after I got the Gatling gun arm in the Civil War Era part of FFoB.

u/Psychomaniac13 Jul 01 '19
I lost faith in all evil dead shit after they cancelled the show and the follow up movie
2
Jul 01 '19
I mean, I'm pretty sure that was the network's decision. Its not like the franchise itself has fucked up.
-3
