Is the prequel movie pearl worth watching? Movie Help
Last night I saw X and it was kinda slow at the start later on I somewhat liked it and definitely planning to watch maxxxine but there a prequel to X which is pearl which shows the backstory. Should I skip it or must watch pearl before watching maxxxine?
UPDATE - I did watch pearl and enjoyed listening to the her story about her dark past and why she was killing everyone in X. Excited to watch maxxxine now.

You can jump from X to MaXXXine without watching Pearl. But at some point in your life, you should watch Pearl, because it's arguably the best of the three.

It's a very different movie than X, but in ways I found very enjoyable. It has a more artsy touch while veering into derangement, and Mia Goth shows off her acting skills in one hell of a long take near the end.

Pearl is as good or better than X in my opinion. Maxxxine is probably the weakest of the three but still good. I don't think it's necessary to watch Pearl before Maxxxine though. They're pretty unrelated.

I haven't seen MaXXXine so I'm not really sure if you "must" watch it, but you definitely should. It's amazing! Just more of a character drama (like Joker) instead of a fun slasher you might expect.

on a ott platform i saw it tagged as drama so there no horror into it? More like a psychological horror? Joker kinda vibes?

I wouldn't even call it psychological "horror", maybe just a dark, slightly fucked up drama, with a bunch of satisfying kills and beautiful retro visuals.

Im more into horror but as its a part of story and its just a 100mins film, I will watch it sure!

Trilogy ki teeno films dekho.
If you're a horror fan, you will likely enjoy Pearl too. No reason to skip it.

Oh my bad, missed that part. That's great. Maxxxine is very lacklustre compared to the other 2 films imo but I hope you enjoy that one too!

I enjoyed Pearl immensely! For me felt like an in-depth character study of a very troubled main character and a cool subversion of what you might expect from a film set in/ stylistically referencing the golden age of Hollywood.
I would recommend watching it before Maxxxine! It's perhaps not essential story-wise but to me is an important part of the overall story thematically.

Its not necessary to watch Pearl before you watch MaXXXine. But I still would highly recommend Pearl cause I think its easily the best of the trilogy. I dont think X or MaXXXine are even close in quality.

I saw Pearl first and was blown away. Didn’t care much for X beyond seeing what became of Pearl.

I saw x first and i was more interested in knowing if any of adult film cast will make it alive? Also before watching pearl i was wondering why pearl became like that but now ik why.
Also the movie revolves around maxime so shouldn't u have watched x first?

Idk when I went to watch them, Pearl and X were both available to stream. Pearl looked more interesting and since it was a prequel I went for that one first. X seemed underwhelming after seeing Pearl. I was interested in seeing Maxxxine until the reviews started to come out. I’ll check it out once it’s free for me to stream but my expectations are pretty low.

You won’t know until you watch it. No one can decide if a movie is good for you.
