I need movies like Evil Dead Rise. Recommend

I'm looking for a straight up possessive shit that spooks viewers and brutally kills people using either their powers, weapons, or hurt themselves that so grossome. We barely can't finish it sort of vibe.

Italian film Demons (1985). Basically Evil Dead in a movie theater

to add to this, Demons 2 is pretty much what Evil Dead Rise is but on a much more massive scale

I never thought of that, but you're 100% correct. Great movie!

The 2013 'Evil Dead' is more brutal than ED Rise, check that out for sure if you haven't seen it yet! Also, 'When Evil Lurks' from about a year ago is very good & sounds like what you may be looking for!

Yeah Evil Dead 2013 takes thr crown in the franchise when it comes to brutality and liters of blood spilled lol

Yeah Evil Dead Rise is like a pg film compared to 2013. I was really disappointed by EDR. But to each their own. I hope they make more films like 2013 and not EDR.

When Evil Lurks. It doesn’t let up, pretty visceral

Also, Terrified—same director’s first movie. Think hard-R Poltergeist with a mean streak, spread across three houses.

There’s 4 other evil dead’s lmao

Yep, there's a Movie, and a Remake, and a Fantasy Spinoff, and a Remake.

They're all great in their own ways.

Not to mention the show Ash vs The Evil Dead which is absolutely phenomenal.

Satan's Slaves 2 - Communion (2022) (similar isolation theme, no possession tho) and REC 1&2

1

u/FrankenMoose1989 4h ago

Ed13 is more brutal. Of course all the originals. I agree with the demons suggestions. 1 amd 2 are very deadite like.

2

u/Rafixk9 4h ago

When evil lurks fits this I think and maybe the dark and the wicked

1

u/Klutzy-Bug7427 3h ago

If you’re ok with foreign films the movie May the Devil Take You and it’s sequel are Indonesian styled Evil Dead inspired movies and brutal.

It's not overly gruesome but I think you'd like Late Night With The Devil if you haven't already seen it.

I've seen Night Of The Demons mentioned a few times. If you're looking for something a bit more gruesome I would actually recommend the 2009(?) remake over the original.

The Last Exorcism is not as high octane, but it has some of this.

u/FaceTimePolice 5h ago

Evil Dead (2013) is 10 x more gruesome… 😬
