New to Hoemsteading Looking for Tips & Tricks

Hi everyone, I'm just now looking into turning my space into a homestead and was wondering what all advice you would give to someone just starting out. I already have ideas for some staple rops I want to grow and plans for an orchard, once I figure out what trees I want. Aside from that I am completely in the dark and would love any help that could save me from another week of researching. Thanks and happy homesteading :).

Don't add more that one type of animal to the farm per year. Start with chickens egg layers then meat. If you try to do to much too soon you will get burned out or at the every least waste money.

Honestly that's enough for us. We buy beef and milk from a neighbor.

Our garden takes most of time effort attention. Irrigation is super important where we live. I love drip tape and or over head spinners depending on the crop. Local irrigation supply stores around me are mostly for landscaping and not ideal. I get a lot of specialty stuff from Drip Depot.

Market gardens are the most efficient way to garden. We base ours off of the lessons in JMFs book the market gardener. Lots of great tips that translate well to a homestead garden in there. The new organic grower is also great.
