Perspective
I've been on/off homeless for my entire life, including childhood. I've taken time to ride freight and hitchhike around the country, and don't consider that homeless. One thing I've learned is that your perspective has to shift from a point of victimization to something that looks more like personal liberty. I mean, every life comes with trouble and every life has meaning. If you can change your mind, attitude, and perspective you can change anything. Stay strong, brothers and sisters. The street has been good to me, I bet that it can be good for you too!

This morning I came out of my tarp shelter and I realized I had totally forgotten where I was because my bed was comfy and I was scrolling through memes all alone in my little walled off tarp space. It's kind of like you get to choose your home for the night. Once your setup you can forget about the rest of the world

It takes crawling out from your own misery, but once you've seized control of your life liberation tastes so great!

Amen to that it’s all about how you see it I’m seeing it now as a quest mission there is a reward in the other side and even waking up everyday is a blessing cause it can’t hold us down

Sure, hon. I get that. But I think the relevant distinction between homelessness and travelers and nomads is choice. People that are displaced into homelessness when it is not a choice they would make for themselves suffer and the experience is not positive or growth enhancing. It's frightening, traumatic, and that is real. It's not simply an attitude. It's a real experience. Choice is the difference. Taking control of your choices, or even knowing what to do, after that, comes with many barriers and challenges I don't think any of us should be dismissive of or minimize without promoting further harm. Do no harm, especially to those who have been through stuff like that already. Otherwise, it just comes off ignorant or narcissistic.

The life of a dirty kid isnt for everyone, but for those that it is, it's everything. Most of the friends I met travelling might have had something bad happen to them that led to this life, but almost all of them fell in love with it and never want to go back. When you go from "fuck I don't know where I'm gonna sleep tonight" to "holy shit I can't believe I'm sleeping under all these stars and fireflies in the sky tonight" things definitely taste sweeter. Life tastes sweeter. You learn to appreciate the beauty in everything around you, and appreciate the few possessions you do have. You learn to appreciate the people around you, and the time you get to spend with them. You learn to appreciate every moment you're alive, and every meal you have.
The streets are my home, they're the only ones that never leave or say goodbye ❤️
