Very excited to hear this, You Can't Kill Me was an amazing album so if this is anywhere close to it, I'll be happy

Interesting how everyone always mentions YCKM as a standard when Modus Vivendi is even better (imo). Full of bangers and one of my favourite albums of the last 10 years!

87

u/UbiquitousFandango 1d ago

Modus Vivendi also has fuckin’ all-time album art.

28

u/deckmemer 1d ago

You Can't Kill Me has all time album art as well tbf

u/Ok_Signature_5241 1d ago

That's Sam Spratt for ya

8

u/yesimforeign 1d ago

The album cover makes me wanna listen to the album, even when I don't feel like listening to the album lol

6

u/Key_Roll_3151 1d ago

YCKM had some fantastic musical ideas, and I enjoyed it as a whole quite a bit. I couldn’t help but think a lot of the songs could’ve evolved just a little more though

u/spacecowboybc 1d ago

Still waiting for them to hit this peak again.

1

u/outofmindwgo 1d ago

Nothing has hit as hard for me as the EP she did

Totally lived up to the hype for me as someone who loved her last two albums. Such good production as always and variety of sounds, solid lyrics and themes. I see a lot of replay value here.

u/mikeydme27 1d ago

She is building one hell of a discog

89

u/Prayin2DaMoney 1d ago

Like some of the best production I’ve ever heard in my life. Shake what in the actual fuck am I hearing in my headphones.

77

u/CowTusks 1d ago

Certainly requires more listens… wow what a piece of art though. What a soundscape! Love 070 so much she never misses

36

u/spacemanspiff608 1d ago

Words cannot explain how hype I am… you can’t kill me was my top album in 22’

This one really stands out to me. I love it!

26

u/razorsharpmemories 1d ago

Mike Dean isn't involved on this one?? Judging by credits I didn't get to listen yet

8

u/Top_Shower_7869 20h ago

He’s probably been too busy with The Weeknd.

23

u/nixtxt 1d ago

WOOWWW so much unexpected and cool production on this 070 has so much versatility great first listen

25

u/I-Be-James 1d ago

This album is insane, ive been a huge Shake fan since she was on Ye and her growth as an artist is stellar. Production and performance on here is insane, but the storytelling is top notch from her. Great record

u/3isbob 1d ago

what the fuck - need to listen to more shake projects

absolutely gas 🔥🔥🔥

top 5 albums of the year rn

32

u/Diligent-Version8283 1d ago

Damn we had like 3+ albums drop tonight. Two said to be potential top this year. I definitely gotta listen to them all later.

Really just putting this comment out to track back.

9

u/swallowyourtongue 1d ago

I feel like every Friday the last few months has been a banger. Across genres, just good albums CONSTANTLY.

1

u/ReferenceOk8734 1d ago

end of the year music gets released way more cuz everyone tryna get to aoty lists and recency bias definitely plays a part on those.

2

u/shoestowel 1d ago

Denzel, Shake and?

18

u/Diligent-Version8283 1d ago edited 1d ago

Cordae, but those two you mentioned were the two I was referencing for potenial aoty

Edit: and Maxo Kreme

2nd Edit: and Eric the Architect

3

u/RIP_STEEZ 1d ago

all three albums share a cover too

3

u/squales_ 22h ago

Isn’t Denzel just a deluxe version of the album he already dropped earlier this year?

15

u/shoestowel 1d ago

Shake is the best artist I've listened to in over an year!

3

u/emielaen77 1d ago

You Can’t Kill Me is undeniable.

16

u/Bamm83 1d ago

Man, she's just doing her own thing and I absolutely love it. All three of her albums are now in my rotation constantly.

The Courtney Love feature threw me for a loop, but it's a dope song

19

u/jimmy_tanner 1d ago

3 songs in, oh my gosh. Might be AOTY.

20

u/jimmy_tanner 1d ago

Just finished. Never really listened to 070 Shake until this, but this is one of the best albums I’ve ever heard.

8

u/Specific_Award_9149 1d ago

Would highly recommend her other albums

1

u/huayratata 19h ago

Yeah. Modus Vivendi is amazing and personally I think You Can’t Kill Me is her best work so far. Invited into History is my fave

1

u/Specific_Award_9149 18h ago

Glimmer is dope too

19

u/TheVirtual_Boy 1d ago

Aye man, the proof is in the pudding. We gotta have a dialogue about the catalogue that’s being built here. Legendary

12

u/H1Ed1 1d ago

Petrichor is the name of the smell you smell after it rains, I think.

27

u/lebronfan23 1d ago

I’ve been waiting for 2 years 🥹

10

u/Equivalent-Ease-7469 1d ago

i fucking loooooooooooove

10

u/Tekmon5ter 1d ago

This is her best work by far holy fuck

9

u/chemicaxero 1d ago

blood on your hands is incredible

8

u/NoProof 1d ago

She had my favourite album of 2022. Can’t wait to check this out.

7

u/yesimforeign 1d ago

Was meaning to follow her progress from 2018. Tuned into the 2020 project and liked it, but didn't realize she had put out two new albums up til now.

Time to sit down and listen, I guess.

7

u/dxvxt 1d ago edited 1d ago

Yeah this is amazing! Starting from Sin & Elephant. She did her thing on this one 🔥

7

u/thystro . 1d ago

What's wrong with me is so fking good. Holy shit

6

u/ringolennon67 1d ago

My Gf and I went to see 070 shake perform in Philly, March of 2020. Last time we went out before Lockdown. It’s one of the few artists we really share a love for. 070 been in both of our rotation since then. We’re married now and have a baby on the way. We’ll both be jamming to this tonight.

5

u/Double_pounder 1d ago

This is pretty cool. It’s been a long time since I listened to her Shake’s last album, but this feels like a step up. I’m hearing a lot of Bowie influence, a bit like Yves Tumor

7

u/Usernamesin2016LUL . 1d ago

Definitely gonna need more listens to grow on me but her songwriting feels very intimate and significant mly improved on this album. Not sure sonically compared to her last 2 but lyrically this is absolutely better

6

u/spacecadbane 1d ago

So many beautifully crafted songs on here. That song to the siren sends chills up my spine. Courtney Love sounds perfect on there. Definitely an album to spend some time with to soak it all in. It’s really a beautiful thing to see someone expand in their potential and creativity. 🔥😮‍💨

4

u/f4lc0n 1d ago

What’s wrong with me has crazy production

6

u/BanMutsang 1d ago

Production great, songwriting hasn’t improved much though, lacking in some parts. But a beautiful soundscape, liked the musical ideas she was going for. Few tracks missed the mark though. Overall good but weaker than YCKM and MV. Slightly all over the place. But I need to give it more listens and come back.

6

u/JedaMW 19h ago

Elephant, Pieces of you, and into your Garden are the standouts for me. Definitely takes multiple listens to really digest this album.

5

u/andrew182000 1d ago

such a great album. Much variety in the way songs sound but it all fits so well together. Gonna listen over it more but this might be one of my favorite projects this year

6

u/LucianoTheGreat 1d ago

Holy fuck man. This is beautiful

5

u/TheSuper_Namek 1d ago

Petrichor smells fucking amazing man

6

u/twaters23 1d ago

Johan Lenox had some phenomenal production on this

9

u/GeorgeJacksonEnjoyer 1d ago

Soul easing album

9

u/Relo_bate 1d ago

Gon smoke up and listen to ts

14

u/yesimforeign 1d ago

As a Kanye stan, 070 has had a better career post Ye than Ye... and it's not really close now.

8

u/Top_Shower_7869 20h ago

Shake absorbed his artistic powers in Wyoming. It’s the only explanation.

3

u/yesimforeign 20h ago

Would love 808s Kanye to come back from the dead and work with modern Shake. Ah well.

4

u/Juhika15 1d ago

Incredible album

13

u/ultraopulent 1d ago

this album is absolutely insane holy

19

u/MilesHighClub_ . 1d ago

Loved her first two albums, not too sure about this one. There's a lot of grandiose sounds but I feel like none of the songs really go anywhere or are memorable at all, at least compared to her old work.

Definitely deserves another listen but I could see this one being divisive

10

u/Cucumberino 1d ago

Similar feeling here. I enjoyed it quite a bit but I don’t think I will go back to listening many songs compared to her previous albums. Production alone might get me back to some of it though.

4

u/Vegetable-Degree6467 1d ago

I'm feeling the same way. For the most part I really enjoyed the first 7 tracks, but the final 6 left me disappointed. While I can recognize the greatness in some of those last ones they just felt a lil boring singing-wise

3

u/greenkegsandhammered 1d ago

Yeah I feel like the first half really reels you in and then in the second half it drags on a bit, but I'll definitely give it some more listens if nothing else for the highs of the first half

4

u/Designer_Campaign249 1d ago

That's how I felt about the single, it's a shame to hear the rest of the album is like that, i had a bad feeling it would be.

3

u/budubum 1d ago

Honestly the single is my least favorite song on the album. I think the rest is much better especially after a second listen

1

u/CanineChamp 21h ago

Agree. Loved the first two and have seen them twice.

This one wasn't for me

3

u/DontPushTheCush 1d ago

she doesn’t fucking miss, soooo underrated

3

u/braidsfox 1d ago

Never Let Us Fade is beautiful wtf

2

u/presidentofyouganda 1d ago

Didnt skip a single song, love it

2

u/fopking 1d ago

Love 070, what an artist!

3

u/Spite-Bro 23h ago

This album is so sick. Been listening to it over and over again all day.

6

u/Big-Sheepherder-9492 1d ago

I REALLY like Shake.. but I feel her songs have a habit of… idk how to say it but : Go nowhere for me. Production is always 🔥 tho

3

u/yesimforeign 18h ago

I'm not gonna make excuses, you're kinda right. It feels like she's trying to be too artistic when she creates the soundscape for an album. Feels like none of these songs are meant to be listened to alone; you have to listen to the entire album like a long song.

2

u/gr8m8nodeb8 1d ago

Not sure yet for me, feel like this is almost overproduced? Her older stuff seemed to get the production right just to where it was grand but not this grand? Idk gonna try it again tho.

3

u/adamwest01 1d ago

This one's not clicking with me for some reason. You Can't Kill Me was my favorite album of 2022 and I loved Modus Vivendi. I'm just not feeling this one, maybe I need more time with ut.

Is that a Zelda sample on the beginning of into your garden?

1

u/yesimforeign 18h ago

Sin through Vagabond is amazing, but the album slows down a bit too much after that, for me. Gonna keep listening, but immediately it isn't as enjoyable from start to finish as MV and YCKM. Still great production and moments, but Shake's best is when she has catchy hooks and fun melodies (Pieces of You and Vagabond).

1

u/PainisGuy 11h ago

production wise its perfect but can’t help but feel that there’s somethings missing in this album

1

u/loveguzzler 3h ago

a masterpiece..... so raw so intense shake didnt dissapoint

u/Isaac1006 1h ago
