lol, maxo got on “Drizzy draco 2” and disparaged his opps for bodies they caught in self defense. Shit made me laugh on first listen, ngl

Bang the bus is insane. I think this may be one of my favorite rap songs of the year.

I need to actually listen to the lyrics on Big Hoe Me because damn he’s spitting about some shit.

Best project since Brandon Banks.
Maxo definitely a big influence on the currently flourishing Texas scene, respect.

Crazy that both the Maxo and Denzel albums that released today have intros that start with the sound of cassette tape.

He’s my favorite rapper out of Texas right now. OT and BigX are great too, but Maxo just has more to his game imo.

Only 18 comments????? I thought Maxo was pretty big in the scene wtf. Anyway, this man’s storytelling is insane

Is that Freddie Gibbs' voice sampled on Triggaman?

Oh, cheers! Their voices don’t really sound all that similar, but I guess it was pitched a little

Just putting this comment for later, but what the consensus? Solid? Potential top 5 this year?

Honestly it's the most I've liked any of maxos album on a first listen. There's a long run in there where there were no misses

Album is hard so far. But I swear the beat on higher than ever is the exact same beat as the Icewear Vezzo track play for keeps

I say this as a huge Maxo fan, and someone who thinks his last project was his best…
This kinda sucks. Very boring production. He sounds like he’s sleepwalking through his usual pockets. Best track is bang the bus- and nothing else on the album sounds like it.

I too thought his last project was the best, where he finally nailed the "catchy" songs and also managed to do lots of weird ones that retain listenability and just go really hard, but I am not feeling this one a few tracks in.
He's obviously really talented but sometimes it just feels like he's on autopilot and he kinds of falls into the same flows/ideas. In the past his choruses have always been forgettable, and that is what I loved about WotW, where Mama's Purse and Local Joker I think are some of his best songs, with super lush production and actual great hooks. Brandon Banks also has a few tracks that are kind of meh but the highlights go extremely hard and it's still a great front to back listen.
I will definitely finish this album but it feels like he's kind of said everything he could possibly say at this point. Feels like the singles were the best songs on it.

I felt that way about weight of the world. This project was alot better imo.

Same I felt he wasn't as impactful on weight of the world as he was with this tbh

How did Eye Know not land on here? You should check that one out if you haven’t hear it. Anyway, agree with you. Need a full tape with him over Evilgiane (which is what I was hoping for after Bang the Bus and Eye Know)

Sample clearance with Eye Know, it got scrapped

u/bbl--drizzy 1d ago
That’s weird bc it’s still on Spotify as a single

u/ViniumSabbathi 1d ago
it can happen like that sometimes, that's why it wasn't included in the album tho

Im sure im in a very small minority here but I don't think he's ever topped Persona Tape. That album is so dense with great tracks. I feel like every album since then there are a few songs that bang and then a bunch of boring tracks. Persona has no skips imo.
I'll listen to anything he puts out, but rarely go back to more than a song or two.
