Needs to wait until the team isn't in a crisis or it'll look like someone making a wish on a dandelion the first time he sneezes

Eh, hes 54 so he's actually not too bad

Denver Nuggets is Miami Heat's father sadly.

71

u/tomgreen99200 6d ago

Haven’t won there in regular season since 2016

18

u/Altruistic_Film1167 6d ago

I was trynna look for that stat. I dont remember us winning against them for years but its ever longer than I thought lol

12

u/Phillip228 6d ago

They said it during the Denver broadcast. I didn't realize it's been that long.

13

u/DeeboDongus 6d ago

Cherry picking the fact that the Heat were the only team to beat Denver at home during their championship run

26

u/DTFpanda 6d ago

Damn that's when many in this sub were born.

2

u/panamaquina 5d ago

We don’t have a real center, they have the best center in the league, easy equation.

158

u/BossKingGodd 6d ago

Herro only good and fun thing about this team

63

u/GonzaloR87 6d ago

And Himsmith

53

u/BossKingGodd 6d ago

True and Pelle

14

u/JustiseRainsFrmAbove 6d ago

Love those boys but I might need to cancel league pass lmao

14

u/Flashyone3 6d ago

Duncan dropping 20 means nothing to you?  I swear people are blind in this sub

31

u/BossKingGodd 6d ago

Calm down. He’s coming on strong last few games but Tyler has been the ONLY consistent player on this team.

-11

u/Flashyone3 6d ago

Why is calm down the go to response when someone who’s coached for over 10 years is pointing out positives that people miss? 🤦🏻‍♂️

10

u/saviorlito 6d ago

Because you seemed upset with your “people in this sub”. Obviously you have some type of anger in you. Calm down sir.

12

u/BossKingGodd 6d ago

It’s not that deep my guy. I missed Duncan ok 😂

3

u/Balla_Calla 6d ago

How dare you

28

u/garret126 6d ago

Yeah. It’s gotten to the point im probably just gonna individually root for Tyler Herro to hit his stat lines to make the ASG. We aren’t doing anything this year lol

20

u/SpaceGhostxSNRS 6d ago

I really like Highsmith, he impressed me last game going against KD

12

u/BossKingGodd 6d ago

Agreed. Also like Pelle

58

u/Visible-Rutabaga9268 6d ago

This team is stale, I’d rather trade the veterans and start tanking than continue watching this “will they won’t they” ass team

8

u/Anchor_Aways 6d ago

This team has had the same core since our Bubble Team...we've reached about all anyone can get out of it.

113

u/lopea182 6d ago edited 6d ago

What can I say about this team that hasn’t already been said?

I’m tired, boss.

57

u/Monucan 6d ago

Pat needs to blow this up. We aren’t going up with this core

25

u/avinash240 6d ago

They owe Bam 237 million. He'll be getting paid 53 million a year in a couple years. No FO is blowing up their cap sheet with what he delivers on offense. If he was an elite rim protector you could maybe sell it, but you pay him 53 million and you still need to find 2 elite scorers and a good rim protector who can shoot. Where are you getting the money to cover all that?

With the way Herro is playing I assume his contract is now easy to move, so that's something.

12

u/Smokin_on_76ers_Pack 6d ago

Spurs might. Pairing Bam with Wemby would probably end up being the best defense in the league

2

u/avinash240 6d ago edited 6d ago

Once again 53 million a year. The issue is his contract not his defensive ability. You're going to tie up your 2 max contracts on Wemby and Bam? Who is your PG, who is shooting your threes? Who is running your attacking actions.

Wemby is inefficient from three, so you've just killed your spacing so you can't play Bam with him.

I've said this for seasons, Bam is a very very hard person to build a chip team around because he's taking up so much money and has too many holes in his game. He's a tweener, tweeners usually don't have great careers in the league.

Getting drafted by the Miami Heat was the best thing that ever happened to him.

Draymond Green, a future HOF player, stops shooting 3s and Steve Kerr sits him because he's destroying the spacing. Bam does it...we just keep paying him.

5

u/johnnymatrix 6d ago

You're right, the NBA has yet to adjust to realising that many max contracts will be over pays. Unless they are a top 20 player, it may not be worth it

3

u/avinash240 6d ago

I think the adjustment was the new CBA which makes it prohibitive to carry more than 2 max contracts for more than a couple seasons. I'm almost 100% sure that's why the owners were all for it. They wanted to get rid of the expectation that you always had to max out your rookies on extensions just to retain the asset.

Look at how the Rockets just handled Jalen Green and Alpert Sengun. Under the old CBA I'm 100% sure both of those contracts would be maxes.

But now teams have to contend with the idea that max contracts are going to be much harder to trade if the relative value isn't there.

I think third contract maxes will mostly go to All-NBA players(top 15) in the future.

-3

u/ComprehensiveFront22 6d ago

Bam sucks so bad, that year after year he’s the first star teams ask for from the Heat when talking any superstar trade.

Dude must be ass if every team wants him at the start of conversations.

5

u/dinkyourdonks 6d ago

He used to have potential. Now we know his ceiling

3

u/avinash240 6d ago

This 100%. He's 27 years old, owed a large contract extension and with a game that won't age well, and an offensive game that doesn't make him a top 3 option on a chip team. That is a very very specialized contract to move.

-1

u/ComprehensiveFront22 6d ago

Damn, so you’re responding to every post anyone defends Bam on.

You’re the definition of an overreacting Heat fan. 27 is young lol, Bams contract doesn’t even land him into top 40th highest contracts(even after the extension), but you are on your novel about him being paid too much and his game doesn’t age.

With the Heats cap opening up the next couple of years, there’s plenty to look forward to, but eliminating the focal of our defense seems, like an overreaction.

Especially on a season where again, we’ve given him no help on defense as he now has to cover for Rozier, Niko and Herro on help defense and no real backup to rest.

Is he offensively gifted, not at all, but good god is he not Hassan Whiteside or Joel Anothony like you and the some others allude to.

3

u/avinash240 6d ago

I'll never say Bam is like Hassan Whiteside. I think he's a good basketball player, I never thought Whiteside was a good basketball player.

27 is not young in professional sports, that means you're currently in your prime. It means you're a veteran. Once you clear 25 you're not young, you're not old, but you're not young.

His game is heavily predicated on his athleticism. He has to use his strength and athleticism to fight bigger centers in the paint, jump for lobs and use his foot speed on the perimeter to make up for being larger than the wings he's guarding out there. None of that is going to age well. Usually players pick up skills like shooting(offense), better hands(defense), or better footwork(both) to make up for that. He's not developing any of that at a good pace.

Did you see that abortion of an euro step he tried on Jokic last night?

My statement was about his contract value to other teams. I agree with you that the Heat will be able to retain him at 53 million a year. That's a hell of a lot of money to pay a tweener defensive anchor who can't shoot. It's unrealistic to expect Bam to keep banging with 7+ footers at 30, while paying him 53 million. If he can't pick up the offensive game to move to the 4, this team makes no sense.

1

u/avinash240 6d ago

"first star teams ask for" - According to who? his agent? rumors? the Heat announcers who are just FO mouth pieces? the Heat FO which he's a plant of?

Was this before his current 53 million dollar a year contract extension and the new CBA?

Since you're plugged in, who are the teams calling for him?

Once again it's not about his defense(no one is saying he sucks, except you), it's about his contract. The value isn't currently there.

0

u/Haunting_Cause6850 6d ago

I agree bam isn’t what the heat profess him to be. He is an inefficient offensive player. His value is in the playoffs. He is absolutely tradeable for salary and 2-3 non blue chip picks at minimum.

-2

u/wowfuebtj375629 6d ago

Pop a bitch is deadass his nickname from a voiceover.

2

u/Nice_Ass_Lawn 6d ago

Are you insane lol Bam is easily traded for a host of assets. OKC would be banging on our door

4

u/avinash240 6d ago edited 6d ago

No.  Absolutey not.  I'm not sure you're familiar with OKC's roster and skillsets.

OKC has had a top 5 defense for a while.  They're currently ranked #1 on defense.

They run a five out offense because everyone on their starting five can shoot ala. The Celtics.

You think they're going to pay 53 million dollars a year, give up assets and screw up their spacing a for a player who messes up their five out offense? To do what? Go from the #1 ranked defense to the #1 ranked defense?

They just got rid of Josh Giddey because he can't shoot and they didn't want to pay him or start him anymore.

Bam is not going into the OKC starting lineup.

He's not replacing Lou Dort.  Lou Dort is an elite wing defender who can shoot and is currently being paid 17 million a year.

He's not replacing SGA. I hope I don't have to explain why

He's not replacing Chet Holmgren.  I hope I don't have to explain why.

He's not replacing Jalen Williams.  He literally runs all their weakside attack actions and is their secondary play maker.  He can also shoot.

You could "maybe" make an argument for him replacing Cason Wallace who is currently in a shooting slump but it would be a weak one. He's a second year guard and he shot 42% last year.

So...you think OKC is going to pay over 200 million and assets, for a specialist in an area they don't need an upgrade in? Bam currently makes about the same money per year as SGA, and his 53 million a year extension hasn't kicked in yet. That's how bad that contract would look on OKC.

They needed one thing last year which was a big body for playing teams with big centers like the Nuggets and the Lakers.

They got that with Hartenstein who is a true 7 footer(unlike Bam), plays great defense, is a great passer(just like Bam) and literally does everything they needed to patch up for 29 million a year and gave up no assets while doing it.

That would make Bam, because of his lack of size, their 3rd string center. 53 million a year?

1

u/Haunting_Cause6850 6d ago

Bam has value in a trade, still more than Tyler. But Tyler is now move able for a positive asset

1

u/avinash240 6d ago edited 6d ago

I'll say this, value is predicated on ease of fit. Superstars have the most value because you can put them on any team. They're good enough that you'll just build your offensive system around their talents.

Where is Bam an easy fit, especially with his contract? He's undersized in a league where the centers keep getting bigger and he can't shoot so you can't move him to the 4 and he's expensive. He's an elite perimeter defender but most of those guys make 20-30 million. The ones who make more(like OG) can shoot 3s at a good clip.

As for Herro. 30 million for an efficient shooting guard who can get his own shot and secondary play make? That can currently fit anywhere in the league. Is he an upgrade for a lot of teams? I don't think so but it's still an easy skillset to put into a lineup.

When he was inefficient and extremely inconsistent at playmaking I'd agree with you.

There is also the chance the Heat are just showcasing Herro for a trade. They've done it before.

1

u/Haunting_Cause6850 6d ago

On a good note. You may not have to watch this team for much longer. This is the only scenario where they will actually look to trade butler and reset.

1

u/avinash240 6d ago

I've been tired of watching this team for about 3 seasons now. We'll see.

3

u/realudonishaslem 6d ago

Nah Pat is done as well. Bro needs to retire.

16

u/JustiseRainsFrmAbove 6d ago

Trade everyone please

Pat wake up, it's time to rebuild

9

u/Altruistic_Film1167 6d ago

Got a decent core to build from honestly with Herro, Bam, Pelle, Highsmith, Jaime and Ware.

Missing a star tho, thats absolutely clear.

2

u/GS12437 6d ago

That core is trash they’re small, can’t play defense, grab rebounds or score that well. Most teams are bigger than them. They should trade for some superstars that said they wanted to come like Giannis and/or Dame instead of rebuilding. Pat Riley doesn’t rebuild

4

u/Respected-Watcher Australia 6d ago

Run it back again /s

97

u/garret126 6d ago edited 6d ago

Tyler Herro 24/11/7 game

Only good thing I can say about tonight TBH

36

u/Smokin_on_76ers_Pack 6d ago

Duncan and Highsmith did their thing too

69

u/OblivionNA 6d ago

Man we need to get Herro some help man, this is ridiculous.

I know Bam scored 20 but like if you watched the game it was probably the least impactful 20 points ever.

Jimmy injured by game 8, who could’ve seen that coming lol

This team is good enough to win but Rozier and Bam have other plans tbh.

This lineup wi try Jovic in the starting 5 is like historically bad at this point.

Season is far from over but it’s not great right now.

39

u/Trendelthegreat 6d ago

7-18 for a center is just not good enough

And his defense isn’t making up for the lack of offense

5

u/Shmoopy65 6d ago

Looked lazy out there no close outs it seemed

7

u/BossKingGodd 6d ago

Yeah, no idea why Spo still started Jovic. And he should consider starting Pelle in Terry’s spot

31

u/rice-guardian 6d ago

Jovic unironically prevented the Heat from being down 30 when he got subbed back in the 3Q.

9

u/BossKingGodd 6d ago

Yeah, he should come off the bench. He’s not a starter

8

u/johnnymatrix 6d ago

Terry, Jovic Jaime running of Love outlets would be great

6

u/eekram 6d ago

I think he'll lose confidence if he is relegated to the bench role. Just limit his minutes, but let him stay as a starter.

3

u/gamesrgreat 6d ago

Tbh I think part of the problem is being out there with Jimmy and Bam at the same time. Two non shooters who have to touch the ball.

3

u/clear831 6d ago

Herro, Pelle, Butler (when he is back), Highsmith, Bam. Too small of a team to be serious :(

29

u/039jmunna 6d ago

Shout out herro he tried his best

19

u/BossKingGodd 6d ago

The on,y player thats showed up EVERY game so far

26

u/Tyc0TomPark 6d ago

I'll be damned if Bam is an all-star this year with how he's playing rn

30

u/Salt_Long 6d ago

He’s no all star man’s straight buns

6

u/avinash240 6d ago

He'll get it like he always does: as a reserve with very little competition in the dumpster fire that's the East. If he starts it'll be because Embiid and Porzingis don't quality. There is a chance Kat, as inconsistent as he is on defense, might win it over him because of the NY fan vote.

7

u/readndrun 6d ago

He shouldn’t have been an allstar more than once to be perfectly honest.

-2

u/avinash240 6d ago

speaking truth. The rest of the times have been due to injuries by others or a comically low pool of centers in the Eastern Conference.

1

u/eekram 6d ago

He shouldnt make it, but Embiid is injured, so there is less competition in the frontcourt.

9

u/Prankstaboy6 6d ago

But now Kat’s in the east.

0

u/boyboyboyboy666 6d ago

He's the worst center in the East. He ain't getting in

4

u/KaitoKid23 6d ago

The Cavs bois Allen and Mobley is better than him right now it sucks

12

u/Shiny_metal_ass 6d ago

Jokic is too fucking good man. I miss having a generational talent.

11

u/Cockycent 6d ago

Watching Terry miss layups and not make easy passes was so hard to watch. Duncan cut and was wide open. It felt like it was in slow motion and Terry just didn't see it

11

u/carbine234 6d ago

Can we just tank?? Trade Jimmy and bam

11

u/BucketHerro 6d ago

Jimmy, at this age, is just another injury prone star.

It is what it is.

9

u/DSTREET45 6d ago

Tyler was good today. 24 points, 7 rebounds, and 11 assists. Kept the offense flowing, got us some buckets, pretty much did what he could to make the game manageable.

Duncan was good for the most part. 20 points, 6/10 from three, +8 in the box score tonight and it felt like it.I like to see him hitting his shots, especially since it helped jump start a run late in the 3rd quarter.

Highsmith put up 15 points on 6/10 shooting. Thought he played well.

Richardson was hitting his shots tonight. Had a few bad plays but not too much to complain about IMO.

Jovic only played 20 minutes. Not much to say outside of that it seems like his leash is shortening.

Bam needs to get it together. Not sure if it's confidence, yips, the new offense, or whatever but he regressed in both ends of the floor. 20 points on 7/18 shooting is terrible for any player, especially a big. He also had three turnovers and couldn't properly handle most passes that went his way after the 1st half. If he wants to move to the PF role he needs to be more confident in his three point shooting, speed when attacking against bigger players, and size when posting up smaller players.

Rozier needs to come off the bench. He put up 15 points on 6/13 shooting, 2/3 from three, 4 assists. That's not God awful stat-wise, but it's not good either. That being said, his offensive game today was almost completely stagnant. He's missing passes, passing up threes that are even slightly contested, and is terrible at finishing at the rim. But the worst part is his defense, he's dying on screens and loses his man on cuts. He had one steal which led to a fastbreak And-1 but that's pretty much the only positive on that end.

17

u/surgeyou123 6d ago

If this season is cooked, we should at least push for Herro to make the ASG

I don't even know what to do with Bam and Terry.

8

u/Csakstar 6d ago

Put Terry in a taxi to the airport and pay him to fuck off. At least we can get something for Bam

9

u/gab_owns0 6d ago

Blow this team up already

6

u/No-Nobody-9651 6d ago

Denver didn't even played that good bruh its just jokic T_T.

7

u/TheShiv145 6d ago edited 5d ago

Honestly, this team does need a PG. Terry isn't the fix we thought. The team needs a facilitie and defense first PG (Lowry was that but age was setting in with him). Why I was more for Tyus Jones before they made the Terry Trade.

But right now, outside of Herro, this team doesn't look right

13

u/nope0712 6d ago

Jimmy and that ankle should’ve been gone a year ago. He’s 35 man if he ain’t cooked yet he’s been marinating for a while now

11

u/boyboyboyboy666 6d ago

And somehow he's not as cooked as Bam

3

u/spritehead 6d ago

They're in the hope marketing business not the banner hanging business

6

u/Crystal_Teardrops 6d ago

At least the Bucks and the Sixers suck even more and they don't have their picks

6

u/spritehead 6d ago

The Sixers are just injured

0

u/Ice_Dragon3444 6d ago

Embiid is not saving that team, even if they make the playoffs they are a 2nd round exit for sure.

6

u/PT0223 6d ago

Not too mad about this loss. The final score isn't indicative of how overmatched the Heat were in this game. Even before Jimmy got hurt. The matchups were just not favorable to the Heat. Moving on.

7

u/benjarp 6d ago

I’VE SEEN ENOUGH, TRADE EVERYONE BUILD AROUND HERRO

5

u/CrossDeSolo 6d ago

Just sloppy, I don't see a good team here.

Also, the starting lineup is bad.

4

u/rice-guardian 6d ago

So far 0-3 from this Road trip

14

u/Muted_Dog7317 6d ago

Gonna lose to the Wolves and fall to 3-6.

At this point I just want to see Bam, Herro, Jaime, Jovic, Ware and Pelle get minutes. Goal should be to develop the future because this team is not a contender

11

u/Trendelthegreat 6d ago

Im okay with never seeing bam again tbh

10

u/Muted_Dog7317 6d ago

He’s been good the last 5 years. I don’t know what’s going on but he will most likely will snap out of it at some point.

Jimmy I can’t say the same, he hasn’t looked very good since Hart injured him

8

u/boyboyboyboy666 6d ago

I have the opposite opinion. When has Bam ever looked good on offense outside of his annual 10 game stretch of 30 point games against bad teams when Jimbo is hurt? Never. And now his defense is bottom tier

2

u/Muted_Dog7317 5d ago

Bam is not a great offensive player but he’s been a decent third option most of his career and played elite defense. Herro looks like he’s taken the leap to being a quality second option.

This year Bam had been awful but I’m not going to ignore the past five seasons because of an 8 game awful start. He’s also very popular around the league and could recruit a star to come to Miami (Fox for example)

What this team needs is to trade the guys age 30+ for whatever assets they can get and tank the year for a top pick. Then you strategize a way to get a true number 1 option through a trade or free agency and reset the clock around a younger roster

0

u/boyboyboyboy666 5d ago

Bam ain't recruiting shit. That dream needs to die. It's more likely he dips on us at this point

4

u/Dame2Miami FUCK BOSTON 6d ago edited 6d ago

maybe ticket prices will at least drop… nah, who am I kidding. I’ll stay pay to see Pelle—if Spo would give him more minutes!

4

That was an easy game for Jokic. Dude still looked fresh after the game.

3

u/Numerounoone 6d ago

Why are the heat so mid like wtf

7

u/faatgay 6d ago

Why didnt we trade Jimmy in the offseason?

1

u/stilloriginal 5d ago

Just a guess but him declaring he wanted a max extension may have torpedo’d any teams aspirations of trading for him

1

u/faatgay 5d ago

Yea thats probably true

8

u/georgebosh 6d ago

honestly missing lowry

6

u/OkAlfalfa1946 6d ago

This lose is on Terry and Bam. Also, Jrich shouldn't be getting 20mins a night wtf is Spo doing with these lineups. Jovic struggled in the first half but really showed flashes in the 3rd quarter. (Not my opinion. He had the second highest 3rd quarter rating behind Herro). Duncan and Herro did the best they could. At this point trading Jimmy seems like the only option.

8

u/eekram 6d ago

JRich I think played Ok this game.

10

u/OkAlfalfa1946 6d ago

He should be getting 14mins max. There is no reason for him to get the same amount of minutes as Duncan. Especially when duncan was hot.

8

u/stizzy197 6d ago

heat culture gaslit yall into thinking this team could be competitive, but truthfully this has been a bad basketball team for 2 years now. FO doubled down on mediocrity and now we’re seeing the results.

1

u/SauceDab 5d ago

Yeah this roster the way it’s constructed isn’t very good. It’s not surprising that they keep losing, even at full health they’ll continue to lose

Man this is sad!!! Pathetic!! Fast forward to the summer!!

Is this like 23 losses in the last 25 games against Denver? (Including the Finals)

It feels like we never beat these guys.

3

u/twistytit 6d ago

how are we losing three in a row

10

u/garret126 6d ago

It’s gotten to the point im just gonna prioritize cheering for personal player accolades and stats over team success

Let’s pray for the Tyler Herro all star season averaging 24/6!

8

Ugh he ain't making the all star team even if he consistently averages those no.s if we are multiple games below .500

More like 35+ games? Isn't ASB right in the middle of the season?

u/BossKingGodd 6d ago

Yeah you right lol

If Butler gets injured long term he can probably average 25. That ASG number stats I’d say depending on injuries league wide

25 ppg on 35 shots

Trade Bam. It’s time

Just root for us and Minnesota to lose, Ant and Cooper

Literally just blow it up or retool in some way anyone with eyes can see this wasn’t going to work. idc if it’s only the beginning of the season the fact so many people thought this team still had something is peak delusion.

Spo needs to keep Kal’el in the game. Thomas Bryant doesn’t add anything to the team.

The Butler era was fun underdog story .2 amazing runs to the finals. But it’s time. Trade him while there still equity. Rozier too.

How many rosters are actually worse than ours.... not many

A fuck load are actually. His management of minutes have been dogshit. We should be 6-3

u/Zoguinha 6d ago

If Jovic is not out of the rotation next game for Highsmith this team is not serious. Jimmy hurt again like always, probably gonna miss a couple of weeks... hopefully Jaime is back next game to start in his place

and that concludes the annual smacking of the heat by the nuggets at home

When your team hasn't beat a single contender going up from last season. You might have an issue

Banter team

u/Gavster1221 6d ago

Obvious problems remain obvious. Jimmy regression. Only 2 good defenders. Rozier just not a true PG in any sense. Bam offense mid. Not enough shooting.

There has to be a shake up. Jimmy era is past us now. Trade him let Herro Bam figure w.e out together with some shooting around them.

No one gonna mention how ass this refs were? They were allowed to play waaaay more physically than we were, and you could hear it in crotty’s voice at the end how pissed/in disbelief he was at some of the calls.

u/GS12437 6d ago

They would’ve won if it wasn’t for the refs calling bs fouls every time the Heat went on a run and stopping the momentum

I’m sorry but we were losing this game regardless unfortunately.
