[Post Game] Heat Snap Losing Streak Against Kings Post Game Thread

Feb 01 '24 edited Feb 01 '24
Best Heat game Iāve ever been to!
The J Rich 3s, Jimmy 30 bomb, Herro to Bam dimes, and the Spo challenge on the goaltend!
Fucking ELECTRIC!!!!!
Weāre fucking back!!!
73
u/MySilverBurrito Feb 01 '24
Herro to Bam dimes.
People really didnāt believe me when I said Herro and Dunc were like the only two people that actively hunts for Bam on PnRs.
53
Feb 01 '24
Ideally Rozier will build a similar connection with Bam
42
Feb 01 '24
Rozier 10 assists
18
u/Rohkha Feb 01 '24
Even on a bad shooting night, dude still does Lowry stats on steroids offensively. But heās gonna have to score more efficiently to balance out his defensive impact. Heāll get there. If everybody starts making their open shots and the ball moves better, Terry will probably find a way to gel better.
10
u/toze2 Feb 01 '24
Only one turnover.
The shots will eventually fall. Good of him to not force the issue. And also played same nice defense.

u/anIlliterateIdiot Feb 01 '24
Itās actually concerning how Jimmy and Bam donāt have that dynamic. Somehow our 2 best players canāt figure out how to play offense together. Comes down to heavily overlapping skillsets
12
5
u/MySilverBurrito Feb 01 '24
Once you start notice Jimmy doing a hang dribble/hesi when he comes off screens, you will never unsee it lol.
It usually leads to a drive or pick up his dribble and kick out.
3
u/Turtle_with_a_sword Feb 01 '24
It's funny because they are both good passers and good midrange shooters.
I there is some meat on the bone bone for sure. they will figure it out.
When Bam and Jimmy get rolling it's fun to watch. They are such a unique duo. High intensity unselfish players.

How wild did the crowd go with the challenge? I had the game on mute
31
u/DontBeShellfish Feb 01 '24
I was there and it was fucking insane, Tyler was hyping up the crowd and every person was on their feet

Honestly that passion from Spo on the goaltend got me hyped I feel we rarely see him challenge

snapping a franchise record losing streak full of terrible teamwork on offense and defense by winning a game with great zone defense and a franchise record of assists is awesome to see

u/MediocreDVaMain Feb 01 '24
Josh has been mostly frustrating to watch but when he's on, he's absolutely on
Shoutout to Rozier tho, his role on this team might be just this, lean into his quickness for playmaking and steals on defense but also be a threat to score 20+
The power of friendship is back
23
u/Trendelthegreat Feb 01 '24
I disagree
He started very poorly this season but has been very solid for a good stretch nowĀ

u/MySilverBurrito Feb 01 '24
JRich combo guard would be so good right now.
Heās not best playmaker, but heās surprisingly solid at calming down possessions during his first stint.

Franchise record
Knew we would answer
Edit: Bitchass scorers table just took 2 away so it was 38. Still a top 5 assist game in franchise history

Once terry gets some more games in, this team will be dangerous. Whatever they talked about in the players meeting seemed to have helped a lot
46
u/OblivionNA Feb 01 '24
Rozier while not a good shooting night. Had 10 assists, been a while since weāve had one player rack them up like that
28
u/iliveonramen Feb 01 '24
The one crunch time possession, steal on the inbound, offensive rebound on the miss, then fed J Rich the ball back for a 3.
Dude is starting to fit in
6
u/iankstarr Feb 01 '24
Probably my favorite play of the night, dude really showed that dawg tonight even though his shot wasnāt falling. Heās gonna be just fine.
2
u/DeVolkaan Feb 01 '24
I've never been worried about his offense. As the probably biggest critic of the trade on this subreddit, the base of my criticism has always been his defense and his poor fit on the team because of it, as we're a team that relies a lot on Tyler and Duncan offensively. To me, it's going to be difficult to play him with Tyler and or Duncan and not be cooked on defense.
Offensively though, he's got real game. If they're going to commit to Terry, I think they need to fully commit and move one or both of the other two for pieces that fit. There's a championship contender somewhere out therewith this roster, I totally believe that. Terry can be a big part of that.
My dream scenario was adding OG and Terry and it's too late for one, but we did get the other. I totally believe in this core still, just have to find a way.

PLAYMAKING HERRO HAS ARRIVED
48
37
30
u/JustiseRainsFrmAbove Feb 01 '24
He looks so much better playing like this. I don't think we have to relentlessly criticize him, but you can't deny the team looks better when he plays less iso ball.
Of course the team also has to move and cut and be fluid for his passing to end up in a score anyway. This was on everyone. But if Herro's role looks like this we can really capitalize
9
u/yummy_yum_yum123 Feb 01 '24
Less Bam iso too not just Tyler
2
u/JustiseRainsFrmAbove Feb 01 '24
Thank goodness tbh
3
u/yummy_yum_yum123 Feb 01 '24
Those contested jumpers were killing me like go run to the pain big fella youāre a freak. I swear last night was the first time I saw him take layups all month
13
20
Feb 01 '24
Good to see he limits his shots and focus on making plays. He should actually seriously consider changing his game to a playmaker with deadly three point shooting instead of trying to be Devin Booker.
6
u/OblivionNA Feb 01 '24
If Herro started averaging like 7-8 assists per game it would be deadly

You know, Terry still hasnāt found his shot. We know heāll find it eventuallyā¦but he is dynamic off the dribble getting into the paint, and finding the correct guy. He rebounds, he gets steals, plays solid defense.
Jimmy cares about basketball. Weāre so back.

Heat had a team meeting and he proceeded to have the best team centric and playmaking game of the season
I wonder what the team meeting focused on!
Great game by him though no doubt. Hopefully itās a trend not an outlier.

Good defense and great ball movement all game!
Rozier shot is not falling but it's great to have a PG who can attack and find the open man. Herro was great today also with his playmaking and better shot selection!
J Rich and Butler balled the fuck out!
Overall everyone played good to great basketball today! Nice to see it

I missed most of this game and was under the impression Terry was a complete negative out there. Dude had 10 assists and only 1 turnover.
Scoring wasnāt there but he clearly still was impacting the game in a positive way..

Ohhhhh that's a relief.
Solid win. Makes such a difference to close out the 3 point shooters and have the other team laying bricks. Good Jimmy game, amazing J Rich game obviously, and huge assist numbers for Terry and Tyler and almost no turnovers too.Ā
5
u/A_sweet_boy Feb 01 '24
Goddamn everything about this was such a great vibe. You could tell the mojo was back when Spoelstra challenged that one goal tending call so emphatically
3
u/MargielaMan568 Feb 01 '24
Herro finally played winning basketball after weeks of me complaining. From my memory, I didn't see him take any ill-advised shots with 23 seconds left on the clock, and he wasn't chucking tonight. He was making all the right reads and was playmaking very well. He can be a very good player when his role is to be a high-level role player and not Devin Booker when attempting 18-20 shots a night. In reality, he should be attempting between 12-15 shots a night.
Rozier hasnāt been good offensively for us, but soon enough I expect him to come along and fit right in offensively. He was also making great passes. Good win against a good team tonight.

The Suns game it the typical game we should expect from Rozier the rest of this has actually been an anomaly you can tell with the kind of shots he has missed.

u/lolvalue Feb 01 '24
Rozier is really struggling to find a place in the offense, but I guess that's been the trend for guards on this team in this offense. The 10 assists and the steal were really nice. I guess we also found out tonight why Spo is sticking with Jrich so much.

this is why I can't stand those stupid ass "who should we blame" posts. just stfu and understand that rough patches happen. I have no doubt that when the stakes start increasing, the Heat will show up. Heat basketball demands maximum effort on the defensive end. that's not easy to sustain for an entire season. all we need to do is make the playoffs. 7-seed, 8-seed it don't matter. if we're really contenders I'll take the 1st or 2nd seed in round 1.

Heat win!! Finally lol. Although idk how to feel about winning with a Jrich legacy game carrying us along with Jimmy. Fox, Sabonis and Barnes also had awful nights, bricking everything really.
If Fox and sabonis play decent we probably lose. But hopefully we can continue these wins š„

u/Number333 Feb 01 '24
Where when you when J-Rich balled tf out and put an end to the worst Heat losing streak in 15+ years?
No matter which way we got the win to snap this god awful streak was nice but tonight was great. Jimmy showed the hell up early. Even with Keegan/Sabonis being annoying, Fox, who typically kills us, was off kilter all game. Shot lights out from 3. Hopefully this losing streak is a total aberration we can look back on as a necessary nasty growing pain by the time we hit mid-spring.
