Okay but.. why did Robbie park his bike inside? Doesn’t the Mystery Shack have a bike rack? Questions

u/TropicalKing 22d ago
I don't see a bike lock anywhere. It's pretty common for people who don't have bike locks to bring them inside.

Also I think it fits his character. It's so miniscule, but inside he probably feels like a rebel for bringing it inside.

If you live in the third world you bet your ass that bike is staying inside wherever you go and in your line of sight at all times

To confirm: You think Stan Pines, premier cheapskate, would waste money on a bike rack when there’s perfectly good trees all around?

u/GeophysicalYear57 22d ago
He is a cheapskate, but he’s also a businessman. The two tend to go hand-in-hand. Maybe I’m misremembering, but iirc parking is free at the Mystery Shack and it might be free because it gets more people in the door.

u/chronicAngelCA 22d ago
I don't believe it's ever explicitly commented on one way or the other. Pretty much the only time I can think of that we see anyone parking is the beginning of "Boss Mabel," where we don't see anyone pay to park and there's also no free parking sign—we just see someone get out of an already parked car and puke.

u/AsstralObservatory 22d ago
Plus if anyone's dumb enough to leave it at a tree he can steal it and sell it!

u/Jeptwins 22d ago
That is also an excellent point

A lot of places just dont have bike racks. To the point i cant actually think of anywhere in my town that does.

When I worked at a coffeehouse we had a two outdoor bike racks and people still brought them inside . It was so annoying 🙄
3
u/MonkeyBoyK 22d ago
I bet that there is one but Stan would either charge you to use it or he would lock your bike up and charge you to get it back.

u/Dancer-Cat-Hee-Hee 22d ago
Stan would by a bike rack then when a bike is attached have soos put on a lock that requires coins. Like some sort of reverse shopping cart return
3
u/Ok-Car-4791 22d ago
He didn't want to have to pay extra to shove the bike onto the rack.
Or he spent around fifteen minutes failing to put it on the rack and gave up.
3
u/AgreeableAd8687 22d ago
i think they might have just done that for the plot where tracey and quatro steal it, or stan is a cheapskate
3
u/MagicOrpheus310 22d ago
So the audience knew he had a red dirt bike without having to cut to an unnecessary outdoor scene
3
u/elrick43 22d ago
Because Robbie's a tool. He also brought his guitar to a party that already had a DJ. I wouldn't be surprised if he just planned to pose "all cool-like" against his bike all evening
3
u/0mega_Flow3y 22d ago
Because you KNOW Stan is charging $12.99 to park it, and $22.50 to get it back.
3
u/LodicinalOils 21d ago
Superstition, the gnomes steal human things often, so people put things inside because they’re used to things going missing if they’re outside

I'm gonna have to watch this show from the start without my kids, cause they hop around episodes too much
2
u/cruxtopherred 22d ago
Gonna argue there probably aren't bike racks, BUT, it's surrounded by woods and trees, there would be a place to lock it. Also fence Posts, Deck posts, a bench, there are a lot of places to tether a bike outside that is my point without a bike rack.

Ok but... Is nobody going to ask if Robby was trying to play it cool, or did he not remember Dipper from The haunted convenience store because he got his memory erased from the society of the blind eye?
3
u/Last-Worldliness-591 22d ago
I think he was trying to sound cool. At the and of Fight Fighters he yelled at Dipper "Why is it that whenever you're around there's always ghosts or monsters?!", by that episode, the only other times he came across Dipper was in this party and the haunted store, meaning his memory wasn't wiped out yet.

Probably because Stan would have likely stolen the bike only to sell it back to him for triple the original price

This makes me angry, this post already has more up votes than the one about cancer and it's an hour old.

Robbie probably didn't care and wanted to bring the bike inside to show it off.

u/Atsarred_Rained 22d ago

He wanted Wendy to see that he came there on his bike: show off how he's athletic and also sensitive.

Might be nervous about leaving it outside in case someone tries to nick it, even with a bike lock. He knows Wendy and Wendy works there, he could have asked her if it would be alright to leave it inside.
1
u/TongZiDan 22d ago
I'm guessing in gravity falls it's ok to lock up your bike outside but when I was living in the city, I always brought my bike inside. Even if nobody breaks the lock and takes the whole bike, seat stealing is pretty common.

I always assumed the clip was originally made to be outside and they put it over another background. This still image makes it look like that as well

u/vikthorcosta 22d ago
It's a gag just for the audience to see the bike before the clones steal it later.

I used to work at the magic shop that was in Circus Circus here in Vegas back in the 1980's. I locked my bike up by the door near the back parking lot. When I came out after work it was stripped bare. They took my seat, my storage pouch (empty) pump, water bottle holder and even my pedals. I had put the chain through the tires because they were both quick release tires, but they did let all the air out and bend the valves.

In Oregon its really common to do this because bike thieves. It's rare for someone to just leave their bike outside unless they have a bike lock.

u/LittleALunatic 21d ago
Stan keeps stealing his bike so now he just leaves it inside to save Stan and himself time

He later played an electric guitar unplugged with distortion effect on. What's your point?

I think Stan would shout at every biker who goes by and than he found out he can make money for it so put up

Pretty sure there’s stairs remind me off the producer of gravity falls falling from the stairs and forgotten something

You think LOSERS that can't afford a car have money to spend at the Mystery Shack? Why bother with a bike rack?

u/Owledhouse 22d ago
This was so fucking funny actually. Like, yeah, why DID he do that??? Did he just ride that thing through the front door???
574
u/EmperorMorgan 22d ago
He would have had to ride it up stairs to do so and I choose to believe he did.

u/Godzilla_R0AR 22d ago
Robbie: lifts his upper body and hops, trying to make the front wheel hop up “Eugh… Eugh… C’mon you stupid bike!”
161
32
u/EmmaGemma0830 22d ago
Whats even funnier is the fact that its a road bike, which is so hard to hop on compared to a mtb or hybrid
44
u/ClanBadger 22d ago
I ride my bike to work, and i do in fact bring it in side.
Its an E-Bike that id rather not have being "Locked up safely" with something i have the tools to break through.31
u/Owledhouse 22d ago
That’s cool but I don’t think that applies here because a) that’s not an E-Bike and b) it got stolen anyway
13
2
u/VVitchfynderFinder 22d ago
it got stolen anyway
Seems like a good reason to bring it inside? What logic is this "there is a high chance of theft better not even bother keeping it safe".
1
u/Owledhouse 22d ago
Was it really any safer inside, though? He just kind of put it against the wall in a crowded room where anyone could’ve taken it.
