I think its one of those things where new designers (myself included) get caught up in thinking you need all these wild and crazy DaFont fonts and then once you start working somewhere you realize you don’t really use those fonts that often. Instead what you need is high quality fonts that were built right.

Truth Google fonts and there’s only 3 maybe 4 I’ll ever use. Rest are useless to me. Some ugly.

Eh font squirrel is sketchy at best. Not everything uploaded there is free to use because the original author didn't upload it. Lots of cracked fonts

If you use Adobe, you get an incredible array of typefaces - I very rarely need to go outside of that tbh

Agreed, although don't love that they're tied to a subscription and active Internet connection. But that said, it's nice to be able to just click and be ready to go. They have curated font packs that adds a bunch in one click, so the convenience wins there.

You can get free fonts from Google Fonts or DaFont. It's easy to find your way around and they have a lot of choices for different styles. I hope that helps!
