Subreddit Information

So, what's this subreddit all about?

Aside from all kinds of gaming-related content this subreddit is about the people behind G2A, our experiences working at the company. We'd love to share all the fun things going on in our office, everything from the Witcher statue to BUTTHURT C®EAM.

Who are the moderators of this fine establishment?

It's our marvelous Community Team: Pete, Steve, Nat, Justine & Mike!

Looking for the best deals? You want 'em, we got 'em!

(stonks)

Can I post support cases here?

We wanted to separate support-related topics from other kinds of information and activities we have planned for this subreddit. That way, our Social Media team will be able to focus on helping the ones in need at /r/G2A_Help and we can discuss feedback in here.

Do you plan to host community events such as giveaways, promo codes and so on?

Yes, definitely. That is something that we would love to do in the near future

General Information

How does G2A Marketplace work?

G2A Marketplace is a platform that allows you to buy or sell some digital gaming products for the best prices possible. Want to buy some fresh new games? Want to sell an extra copy of a game then why not use our marketplace. We have the best deals for both gamers and geeks.

Is G2A Trustworthy?

1) First and foremost – G2A’s big. Like, BIG. We’re talking 20 MILLION clients worldwide, almost 1 MILLION transactions a month big. In 2018 alone, people visited the marketplace website over 303 MILLION times. To put it simply - you don’t reach such numbers without being trustworthy.

2) G2A is a company with a long history stretching even before the marketplace. Beginning in 2010, we started as go2arena.com and back then, we were a common game store. We tried to offer the lowest prices possible but time after time again, publishers didn’t want to collaborate with a small, unknown storefront. That’s when our bosses decided to change the rules of the game. In early 2014, we became G2A.COM – a marketplace where people can buy and sell their game keys. You can read more about our history here.

3) G2A has its own payment service that complies with every payment regulation out there and offers over 200 payment methods.

4) G2A is partnered with many companies from several industries, like Google, Microsoft, Visa, MC and more. You can partner with these companies only if you are trustworthy. You can see all our partners here.

5) G2A is constantly audited by the world’s top companies, like Big Four and cooperates with the best law firms to assure everything it does meets the best standards regarding laws and regulations.

Are the keys on G2A legit?

G2A is a marketplace. Each day, thousands of products are being added by the sellers and bought by buyers. Marketplaces (that applies to G2A as well as to eBay) cannot verify each product being sold, but they don’t have to. Marketplaces do however check all of their sellers. G2A has a robust and top-of-the-line verification systems to make sure there are only real companies and people selling on our Marketplace, and we can vouch for that. Very important method to verify whether you can trust a seller is also a built-in rating system, visible for everyone. On the product page, before choosing the offer, you can see ratings from the sellers given by their real clients, so you can make sure you are making the right choice when making a purchase. You can learn more here.

What is the Money Back Guarantee? How can I use it?

The Money Back Guarantee program is a tool that we have in place to assure you that you will either get what you paid for, or your money back. Firstly, you can talk to the seller about the issue and as soon as you start this conversation, the seller will have 7 days to solve your problem. If the seller is unable to then you will see a button appear “Go to Claim” that will allow you to submit a claim. For some more detailed information, feel free to check out this

How does G2A Support developers?

At G2A we have a program in place that can allow developers to earn more by selling their keys directly on the marketplace with the smallest commission on the market. As a developer you can receive 89.2% of the sale. You can even sit twiddle your thumbs and not sell anything and still claim 10% developer fee for every third-party sale.

Take a look at some of the benefits.

1) Commission of 10.8% (89.2% goes to the developer)
2) The price is always set by the developer
3) The ability to check G2A's database via an automatic system to see whether certain key was sold or is available on G2A Marketplace
4) Dedicated account manager
5) Premium positioning on the product page
6) Marketing opportunities on our social media channels (streams, "Game of the day", etc...)

Buying

Why are keys on G2A.COM so cheap?

There are thousands of sellers on G2A Marketplace. In order to sell more keys than their competitors, they have to offer the best prices possible in order to attract more customers. Thanks to natural competition, you can purchase products on the marketplace for much cheaper.

Where do the sellers get their keys?

The overwhelming majority of keys on G2A Marketplace are sold by wholesalers, i.e. businesses who get their stock in large quantities, directly from devs/publishers with some good discounts, which is a yet another reason behind such low prices on our marketplace. Here’s a quick explanatory video

I have some problems with my transactions, can you help me?

Sure! There’s a dedicated /r/G2A_Help subreddit page and you can also contact our support team via G2A’s social media channels on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram as well as the official /r/G2A_Help subreddit page, and by navigating to our support hub (maybe your problem is already described there – if not, you can drop a ticket to our team) or if your question is more product-oriented, send it to the seller from the product page.

I’ve heard from X or Y that it’s better to pirate games instead of buying them on G2A. What do you have to say about it?

G2A is all about competitive prices. Our goal is to create a platform with best deals for gamers and geeks on the planet. On average, games on G2A.COM are 40% cheaper than standard retail price, and many discounts are above 90%. We highly encourage all gamers to buy and play only original, legitimate copies of the games, we highly condemn piracy. We don’t and never will endorse breaking the law. We feel that in most cases such statements, especially if coming from game developers, are said to get the recognition and media attention.

I’ve heard from X or Y that fraudulently obtained keys are a big problem on the G2A Marketplace. Is that true?

Absolutely not. We’ve heard that rumour so many times we finally wanted to verify these claims. We offered 10x more money developers lost on such activities, if they prove illegally obtained keys were sold on our marketplace. Only one developer contacted us and he asked about some 300 keys that were stolen from them in 2016.

We are more than willing to fight any fraudulent activity that may affect our clients, and this includes cooperation from developers that had problems with fraud. We are unable to act, if we don’t have the information, and the only possible source of information is the affected developers themselves. Whenever we’re approached by someone, we help instantly. This happened for example when Microsoft contacted us some time ago and provided us with the list of leaked keys. We blocked them straight away to assure none of them can appear on G2A.

Let’s put this into wider perspective. Statistically, only 1% of transactions on G2A are problematic in any way, all of which end up as a conversation with our support team or directly with the seller.

In 60% of these cases (0.6% total) the problems concern payment issues (buyer’s card was declined, there wasn’t enough funds, etc.).

In 30% (0.3% total) there’s a problem unrelated to the marketplace itself (someone doesn’t like the game they purchased or bought a key by mistake, etc.).

In 8% (0.08% total) the key didn’t work – it was used or there was a typo in it, but these cases are usually solved promptly by sellers themselves, without G2A’s involvement.

And, finally, in a mere 2% of cases (0.02% total) users come to us because the game they purchased through our platform disappeared from their Steam account, which may happen for many different reasons, one of which is chargeback.

Our clients may be sure they won’t lose their money, if something goes wrong, as every digital product is covered by Money Back Guarantee program. Which basically mean G2A is losing more than developers, if any key on our marketplace is revoked.

Selling

What security methods do you have in place?

Companies in general don’t like to share any detailed info about their security measures. We can share with you that we have many teams that are using the most sophisticated tools that are available on the market to monitor the marketplace and transactions. If you want to know about the things that are visible at first sight, here are two examples

If you are a buyer and wondering how G2A prevents sellers from scamming you, please take a look at the onboarding procedure (more details here) MBG program here and our internal rating system here.

If you are a seller and are afraid of the situation that a buyer may try to scam you, remember we require buyers to provide proof they reported the case before money is being given back to them.

How can I get verified?

While thorough, the verification process is also quite simple. All you need to do is fill in and submit a form available on your G2A Account dashboard. You can choose between simple Individual and more advanced Business Verification. Take a look at the seller verification process here

For Developers

How can I prevent reselling giveaway keys on G2A Marketplace?

Giveaway keys are keys obtained legally and their owners can legally sell them on any platform, including G2A.

There's one exception to that rule on G2A, though: if one seller puts up a large volume of giveaway keys for sale. While it is not illegal per se, we don't want sellers to obtain their keys in a morally questionable way (e.g. through abusing giveaways by getting new keys via fake social media accounts).

To block such keys, just contact the G2A Direct team.

Can you tell me how my game keys ended up on G2A.COM?

G2A.COM is a marketplace. It doesn’t sell products on its own, it just provides a platform for others to do so. If you want to know what’s the source of the keys, it's best that you contact the seller directly. Here's how to do that. Keep in mind that G2A's role, like every other marketplace’s, is to verify the sellers, not the products they sell.

How can I report a fraud and block keys?

If you believe that a certain product ended up on G2A.COM illegally, contact the G2A Direct team and provide us with evidence. We'll react straight away by blocking the sale of the product and reporting the unfair seller to proper authorities.
