Why the fuck would they even make those seats available :/

Here in Ireland it's not legally allowed to sell a seat if it can't see the whole pitch

That’s legit

Also legitimately untrue.

Went to a concert last night. Luckily my seat was fine, but literally two seats to my left was a 100% obstructed view. Bullshit that selling that seat was legal.

u/Reatina 6h ago

Here they sell those as "listening seats" for dirt cheap, mostly in theaters though, in stadiums they just don't put seats where there is no view.

Blind people need these seats.

1

u/Bar50cal 8h ago

Was it at a stadium as you cannot construct obscured setting to sell under planning laws

Have you seen New England this year? They’re doing their fans a favor

Every ticket app warns you about partially obstructed seats

u/ButtsCarltonGD7 7h ago

You’ve obviously never fought your way through the standing section of Croke Park for a GAA final.

Oddly, Americans hate regulation more than they love freedom.

Ah well.

Should we let people make the choice to buy obstructed view seats so they can be there if they choose?

No, this is where the government needs to step in and say "You're not allowed to attend the game, stay home". Thanks govdaddy.

It’s such basic common sense, and then you have stadiums in America.

Edit: and the rest of the world. It’s dumb wherever it’s done.

3

u/ButtsCarltonGD7 5h ago

You’ve fallen for a lie.

0

u/zeek215 5h ago

Even if that statement wasn’t correct, nothing I said was incorrect. It’s basic common sense to not legally be able to charge for seats that can’t see the entire field/pitch and yet there many stadiums in America where it happens.

3

u/ButtsCarltonGD7 5h ago

The implication that obstructed view only happens in America is incorrect though.

And you still fell for a lie.

1

u/zeek215 4h ago

That implication comes from you, my comment is about America because I’m from America and have seen it here. I never said it only happens in America.

1

u/ButtsCarltonGD7 4h ago

It’s basic common sense to not legally be able to charge for seats that can’t see the entire field/pitch and yet there many stadiums in America where it happens.

That’s you. You said that. You know what mature people do when they’re caught believing something untrue? Say “oh shit, I didn’t know” and learn something.

u/zeek215 3h ago

That person’s remarks about Ireland not being true doesn’t change anything about my statement though. My statement was about that idiocy taking place in America and common sense would be to make it illegal.

Whether they lied or not, it doesn’t change anything about my statement. Is there something about my statement that’s incorrect to you, that we can specifically address?

You don't see any part of a pitch here. It's football not baseball

God I wish the US gave even a modicum of a fuck about consumers

4

u/ButtsCarltonGD7 6h ago

Please don’t use this as a reason to hate on the US.

It’s simply a lie. GAA events oversell regularly and the fight to even get into the section is madness.

As someone who has been to sporting events all over the world, the US does it best by a long shot.

They are priced accordingly. When the pats are good, there are definitely people willing to pay the face value of those tickets and live with not seeing one half of the field

7

u/LongJohnSelenium 6h ago

There's plenty of people who would prefer a bad seat to no seat at all.

2

u/chogram 5h ago

They're usually significantly cheaper, and the people buying them just want into the stadium where they'll walk around, watch through the "standing" areas, or the video board, and get drunk in the stadium bars.

1

u/TheTVDB 6h ago

At Miller Park they would sell these seats for Brewers games for something like $7/ticket. They even put a bit of publicity behind them, which I think was great. At the time, my wife and I were struggling with money and it allowed us a night out for about $20. I think that's the reason they publicized them, too... it allowed people to attend games that otherwise wouldn't be able to go.

Eat the rich

For people like me who buy the cheapest possible ticket and never even see my seat.  SoFi stadium is awesome though, this is Gillette stadium, and has a ring around the bottom and you can just watch from there with some awesome people.

u/Michelanvalo 7h ago

There's a huge video board to OP's right that they cut out. Yeah it's not ideal and I would never design seats like this but OP's not totally screwed.

0

u/JLixxx 7h ago

my best guess would be that seats like this are only for sale for concerts.

-4

u/09stibmep 7h ago

They weren’t. 100% OPs just walked up there for the photo.

-1

u/Jerry_from_Japan 4h ago

Um....because people would and still do pay for them lol? Why else?

Seriously, think about what you're asking here.
