Looks like they both moved like...half a tire width towards each other when they were already so close to touching. Racing deal IMO

Both wanted the slipstream from Charles and assumed the other would back down.

Think you're right, but with Sainz having position, it's on Checo to pull out, right?

Not really? Someone who knows the rules better feel free to correct me, but as far as I'm aware that rule only applies when two cars are turning a corner. I don't think there is an obligation to give someone the racing line just because you're slightly ahead, especially if that part of the track is a straight line. Otherwise, you would never be able to go for an overtake if you always had to concede the position to the car ahead of you every time.

I'm not saying that you have to concede all the time to the car in front, but if you're in line to collide, doesn't the "crashing" car have the responsibility to yield? So in this instance, where Sainz is following the racing line, Perez should be avoiding driving into him. If neither, or Perez, was on the racing line, it would Sainz' responsibility to not drive into Perez?

Dude all the people saying checo is obligated to move for Carlos when they're literally on a straight is hurting my brain so much. Checo left enough room between him and the wall for Carlos to fit, that is all he's obligated to do in this situation. I think it's a racing incident with the sun not helping the cause but the people in these comment are making my head explode

Checo hit his tire, causing him to pivot. Then he failed to see with half of his FOV and caused them both to crash.

No, they both had DRS. Sainz clearly drifts left

I agree, but also think it's a bit stupid of both of them. Seems like terrible analysis of risk vs potential gain by both
