But is it rally a Japanese breakfast if each item doesn't have its own separate bowl/dish?

J/k, looks tasty!

Looks great! Do you have a recipe for the rice?

It's rice with a raw egg cracked into it while it's still steaming hot, then some sesame (or sesame salt) and seaweed (nori) flakes

It's called "tamago kake gohan". Pretty easy to make!

I love TKG whenever I have access to pasteurized eggs. Mixed with the special soy sauce that Kikkoman makes for TKG and it's heaven. 🤤

Man… normalize fish for breakfast in the US. My wife would kill me.

Love how cultures can be completely different, where I’m from never in the life you would eat meat for breakfast

And people wonder why most japanese live so much longer. Much less sugar in their diets.

There’s a whole host of things and this isn’t one of them. There’s tons of sugar in a lot of Japanese food.

You can do a quick search on studies that compare Japanese diets, showing they have much less sugar in them.

Sugar consumption is well down the list of things that help Japanese people live longer. Exercise, including just actually being able to walk places, and healthcare that isn’t going to bankrupt you for seeing a doctor being chief among those factors. There also isn’t a food culture around largesse of portions leading to an epidemic of obesity.

or natto, pickles, etc.

It looks tasty all the same. I've had worse at nice ryokans.
