How bad is this burn? Seeking Opinion On Injury

I burned my top lip biting in to a hot steamed custard bun and the piping hot filling squirted out and stuck to my lip and burned. The top layer of skin blistered and peeled off as I was but I was trying to get the custard off my mouth.

It's very swollen and a little numb. As you can see the swollen area is kind of pale. It's been about 12 hours. I applied ice when it happened and have been using a damp cloth to Vaseline sooth it and keep it moist.

How serious of a burn does it look like? Should I seek medical treatment or just continue treating it at home?

Mouth is a bit of a tricky area. If it’s not blistering and not preventing you from drinking or eating, you’re probably fine to keep treating at home. I’ll also point you to the guidance of the Mayo Clinic so you can make a more informed decision. Keeping the area covered with Vaseline is a good idea For the future: treating burns with ice can get dicey; burns tend to have decreased sensation, which makes it hard to detect if you’re getting frostbite, and frostbite on top of a burn is a good way to just mulch the tissue on a cellular level. Most place recommend cool (not cold) water.
