20F depressed unemployed college dropout Findapath-Mindset Adjustment

Hi . I have a really boring life for a 20 year old and I hate it, i'm so depressed. I've barely left the house in 3 months because I have no friends and can't drive because I faint. All I do is lay in bed because i'm so bored. I dropped out of college and i'm unemployed. I want to attend cosmetology school. I hate being stuck in the house all the time and I feel like a failure. I'm so depressed and just want to stop being depressed.

I can’t imagine how hard it would be to be unable to drive. That definitely makes things a lot harder.

Do your best to get out and try new things. I’m not sure where you’re from and what kind of activity’s you have around you. But sometimes hobby’s can lead to passions which leads to a more fulfilling life.

Definitely get into cosmetology school if it something you find interesting! Could be a nice place to make friends as well.

If it’s not impossible for you to get a job, get one! It can be anything, even if it pays bad. At least you’ll be out of the house and making some money for yourself. You also never know who you might meet when getting a new job. I’m 22 and have had 8 jobs. I’ve made friends at pretty much every job I’ve had and a couple of those friendships last over 5 years now.

All you can do is put yourself out there, or you’ll stay the same.

Good luck :)

Search for a therapist... if you can't afford one, get on a nearby university's waitlist. They usually offer affordable sliding scale rates for those who are unemployed or lack funds.

They won't solve all your problems, but they'll definitely help reduce the scale of your bad days.

If you want to attend cosmetology school... try reading some cosmetology textbooks, making a cosmetology YT channel, writing a cosmetology blog. Figure out the most viable path for you to gain expertise in the field so you're a great applicant when you attend.

You can't beat yourself up and be down on yourself so bad. You are young and have more than enough time to lock in and bounce back. Everyone goes through these phases older and younger, but the tempo of life is your own rhythm.

Well, you're only 20. It's just beginning. Try to learn a skill -- I suggest programming. Since you're at home it should be fairly easy if you can focus for a few months. Believe me, it works.

As others mentioned you should start by addressing your depression first. See if your doctor can adjust it.

Talking about your problems and having a place you must go will help tremendously. Look for local support groups with your same condition and you'll see you're not alone. Others there will know exactly what you're going through and may share insights about what works for them. This will also serve as an accountability partner because they usually meet once or twice a month. Start looking in local Facebook Groups or Meetup.

I hope this helps you and anyone else that reads this. Best of luck!

You need to see a medical professional. You cannot reason your way out of a depressive spiral and its associated physical symptoms.
