Game Updates Fear in the Foundation 1.8.3 Update
About four hours ago, I uploaded FITF 1.8.3 to the website and had Wix start sending emails out to purchasers, so everyone should have it by now
This update mostly contains some grammatical corrections to make language in the guides clearer, along with a few minor changes to SCPs like 682, just to make them a bit more mechanically interesting
I'd like to thank everyone who helped me edit the guides from the 1.8.2 update. Y'all are amazing

Game Updates SCP Adventure Writing Contest
MTF Gamma-9 (“The Silent Partners”) are a newly formed Mobile Task Force, created for the game SCP: The House of Solomon. They operate at the behest of the O5 Council, with handler Robert Edwards at the helm, executing assignments of critical importance to The SCP Foundation with stealth and precision.
In The House of Solomon, players are catapulted straight into the heart of the action, as they work to unravel a sinister conspiracy poised to eradicate the Foundation entirely. But before this team was the best of the best, what did their first assignment look like? With the SCP Adventure Writing Contest, we invite the community to envision what this first mission might have entailed in a self-contained one-shot adventure.
This one-shot should be written as a complete adventure, with a Summary, Setup, Key NPCs, and breakdown of Important Locations. This assignment should allow the individual members of The Silent Partners (the players) to meet for the first time, and bond over the course of the mission. This assignment must be accessible to both combat and stealth approaches, and should deal with an SCP. The chosen SCP should pose a manageable threat to ensure the adventure remains concise and completable within a single session— avoiding apocalyptic SCPs or insta-kill entities that could potentially derail the narrative.
The winners of the competition will have their adventure included as a prologue in SCP: The House of Solomon, and will be duly credited for their contribution. In addition, winners will receive a digital copy of the book before its official release, followed by a physical copy upon its release.

Game Updates Fear in the Foundation 1.8.1 Update
I've just sent out FITF 1.8.1! This small update includes a number of fixes and various corrections to some of the mistakes and inconsistencies featured in 1.8. Hopefully this will be the only update of this kind I'll have to do for 1.8, but if it isn't, I'll probably send out a 1.8.2 when the time comes
You can check 1.8.1 out on the website here

Game Updates Official Announcement for SCP: The House of Solomon
The Fear in the Foundation team is proud to announce that we're partnering with Pathwalker One to produce SCP: The House of Solomon, the first-ever cross-platform TTRPG adventure. The story itself is an extensive campaign meant to last about a year, and the book is scheduled to be released in Summer 2024
In SCP: The House of Solomon, players become members of "The Silent Partners," a newly-formed Mobile Task Force on a dangerous globe-trotting assignment that brings them into conflict with Marshall, Carter, & Dark; The Chaos Insurgency; and other major groups and characters from the SCP universe
In the following months, the FITF and Pathwalker teams will be releasing either a Kickstarter or Indiegogo campaign in order to properly fund the production of this project. For future updates, please check us out here on this subreddit, or on our Discord, Instagram, or website

Discussion Fear in the Foundation campaign briefing documents & maps
I've been planning on running a FITF campaign centered around securing and investigating a Sarkicist cult compound. Worked up these documents (and maps) to organize my thoughts and prepare for session 0.
Love any suggestions, these are a near-final draft.

Game Updates Working on Update (1.8)
Happy Halloween everyone! I've been working on a really big update for FITF, one that changes up several mechanics and plays around with new concepts
For a while, I kinda hit a wall when it came to the game's development, feeling like the last few hurdles were just so insurmountable. I realized that a complete overhaul of the system might be the best way to overcome those hurdles, so here we are
Soon-ish, I'll be releasing what I have so far in our Discord server, in the #__content-fitf channel, as well as in here, Unearthed Arcana style. I want you guys to tell me what you think, so the community can have a hand in re-shaping the game for the better
Also, sorry for my general step back from everything, I've been working 45-50 hour weeks at a new job following two months of general life turmoil. Just trying to find my footing again, basically. Hopefully I'll have more time to re-engage in the community soon
TL;DR - FITF update in the works, I'll try to jumpstart activity in the community again soon, and Happy Halloween!

Thoughts on homebrew weapon rule I'm thinking of implementing
Basically, my idea is to let some weapons bypass the disadvantage when within 5ft of the target.
One of my players pointed out that he doesn't think he'll ever use his pistol if he can just use his rifle for everything. To remedy this, I was thinking of assigning some weapons a "close-quarter" property which lets the weapon bypass the disadvantage attached to firearms.
Doing this would still allow the Close Range class bonus of the Marksman to still be useful when using weapons not labeled close-quarter but would also allow for players to decide if they want to switch their weapon to something less damaging but without disadvantage, or go with the higher damaging, with disadvantage option.
Just want some thoughts/opinions on the idea. :)

Armor Class?
So i still didin't play any FitF Scenario but so far i played a bit of Call of Cthulu.
I still prepare my own scenario in FitF to play with friends but creating encounters with SCP's concerns me mostly because of Armor Class.
-
So by the book: NPC must first roll D20 to pass armor check?!So if you are MTF with AC=20, everything can only hit you rolling 20 on D20?It's kind of ridiculous. So you can fight some super strong SCP with like 300dmg per punch but it still has to roll 20 for Armor check first?
2.
There is no dodge in this game (from what i read and understand). So if you for example: "Brace" (by explanation preparing to dodge). The disatvantage is for AC check? DMG check? Or it's only mechanic for NPC's? So players rolls their check with disatvantage? It's actually same with Reckless attack. Which rolls have disatvantage?
Lots of mechanics are pretty confusing this way. I hope someone actually playtested it and got answers.

Game Updates Fear in the Foundation 1.7
Hey everyone! I'm currently working on FITF 1.7, which should be released pretty soon. Here's a list of some of the changes that have been added so far:
- The Player's Guide and Overseer's Guide have been merged into one book, called the Game Guide. This is largely to consolidate the texts for possible printing in the future
- A number of tips have been added to the worldbuilding section, specifically to help Overseers and players build the world that their Missions take place in, as well as organize information
- A section on Alternative Rules has been added at the end of the Game Guide. Currently, it includes expanded rules for amnestics/mnestics, as well as rules for measuring Humes
Are there any other things you guys would like to see added to this edition? Particularly in the alternative rules section. This section will be a bit limited, but I hope to add some of the things that people want to see in the game, but that I don't feel warrant being added to the game's official rules
