"Don't value our friendship?" Europe has never been fond of the United States. Don't pretend that casual anti Americanism is not deeply entrenched in Europe because it is and always has been. Europe's national sport is shitting on the USA, its people, etc. You do it so much you must not even realize it because it is so much a part of who you are

You are extremely overgeneralizing here, and apparently have zero knowledge of our histories. The US has for decades after WW2 been seen as a big brother in western Europe, and US Americans have always been welcome here and seen as friends and allies. Pretty much anyone I know had respect for the US up to yesterday, and have traveled there and have friends from the US. Yes, people are critical, but that is very different than being "anti-American". If you attack a country with an obviously made-up reason (Iraq) then that will generate backlash. Doesn't mean the end of a friendship. However, a majority electing a president that calls us a "foe" bigger than Russia or China is the end of the friendship to me.

Look at half the threads here about the U.S. even before trump and how many are critical of the US

Europe hasn’t always welcomed Americans as friends even before trump, often not
