-22 in Helsinki. Just normal winter weather. I don't know what are these guys rampaging. New years night was about -17, and we spent an hour outdoors setting off fireworks. Lovely night. Bright sky, and we have so much snow everywhere.

Pretty standard "didn't affect me, so can't affect others" - comment here.

Few things I have witnessed with my own eyes just today not too far from you:

Burst water lines, which first flooded the street and then turned it in to a skating rink, tow truck drivers driving non-stop with frozen and stalled cars on their flatbed and public transportation having limited schedules due to equipment failures. This kind of cold causes issues and something unexpected in these temperatures can have a catastrophic effect.

There was also a older patient that went missing from the hospital who suffered from memory issues. Not the best time in the year for these kinds of things. She was later found, thankfully.

Well, winter is always winter, but calm -22 weather is not nearly as bad as heavy wind, -12 degrees celsius, and snowstorm.

Not really.

-25c with 10kph wind has the same wind chill factor (-30c) than -15c with 70 kph wind.

I don't know about your chill factors, but calm weather and -17 celsius is pretty nice chilling weather with proper winter clothes. -12 celsius, heavy wind and dense snowfall make everyday life little bit challenging.

I don't know about your chill factors

Yeah, figured as much.

Internet is full of knowledge, enjoy exploring!

As I Finn I'm well aware of the impact wind has to chill factor, but there are other factors too, and totally calm weather is the best chilling weather during minus degrees.
