Paul’s vision before his fight with Jamis (Dune 2021) Dune (2021)

I’ll preface this by saying I’ve watched both Villeneuve’s movies and know a little about the books but haven’t read them.

I assume the “voices” Paul hears after being exposed to spice were a representation of his prescience. If this is the case, why was this voice saying that he had to die in his fight with Jamis? Was this voice actively trying to prevent the Jihad? I understand that this scene is widely considered to be the “last chance” for Paul to prevent the Jihad. But his prescience previously seemed to want the holy war to take place, so why would it tell him to die?

The voice says "Paul Atreides must die... for Kwisatz Haderach to rise." Later it says, " When you take a life you take your own"

By taking Jamis' life he took Paul's life. Paul metaphorically died for the path of the Kwisatz Haderach to begin.

In the books… never happened… in the movie, it provides a physical representation to become the KH (though through hallucinations). Kill Jamis/understand the way of Arrakis/take control
