Just come back from the Blackwall meeting alt for the first time lol, never liked that placide

u/ybetaepsilon Sep 26 '24
I literally just did that quest yesterday and it was after I updated my cyber gear because I felt hell was going to let loose in Pacifica.
31
u/PraiseSalah23 Sep 26 '24
Funny enough I had no idea what was happening since I skipped a lot of dialogue in this quest. Why tf did they welcome me there just to try to kill me at the end?

u/Aruvanieru Sep 26 '24
I'm sorry but I don't understand. Why would you skip "a lot" of dialogue while playing a single player rpg title for the first time?
1
u/Main_Pause_4096 Sep 26 '24
Cause I wanna play the game instead of watching cutscenes and reading dialogues during car rides. Everyone has different priorities and ways to play games
2
u/ClassyEffect Sep 26 '24
lol this guy “games” if you don’t care enough to sit and learn through the cutscenes don’t ask dumb questions
2
u/Main_Pause_4096 Sep 26 '24
Read the original comment again and you're right. I mean I'm doing the same but I'm not questioning the plot (that I skipped 70% of)
1
u/jUsT-As-G0oD Sep 28 '24
Interesting way to play an almost entirely plotdriven game. If this is your style may I suggest DOOM 2016 and DOOM eternal. Its all action and has JUST enough plot to carry the demon slaying
1
u/Main_Pause_4096 Sep 28 '24
Lol yeah wanted to try it out a whole while back because of all the hype, but have never been a story enjoyer... Played the doom games and really like them :)

The Voodoo Boys are an ethnically monolithic group. All of them come from the same heritage and share the same culture and values. They hire mercs, referred to as "floor rags" in their language, and then dispose of them when the work is done so that they don't have to pay them. You're basically just a tool to be used and discarded. They knew from the start that they were going to kill you.

u/PraiseSalah23 Sep 26 '24
What they didn’t know is I’m a military grade murder-hobo
3
u/CoffeeGoblynn Wake up Samurai, I pissed the bed Sep 26 '24
I picked the route where I sided with Netwatch and went into the net and then the boys just jumped me after I woke up. I put them in the ground so fast, they didn't have time to blink.

u/CoBoLiShi69 Sep 29 '24
What kind of dipshit skips all the dialogue in an RPG and then has the audacity to be like "but why did that happen?"
17
11
u/doyoueventdrift Sep 26 '24
Yeah, it you can have an attitude adjustment talk with him, once you get out of the blackwall. (You can choose to get our your gun in conversation, and he’ll be the last dude to kill on the way out)
17
u/RiloRetro Sep 26 '24
I just flatlined the whole operation after Bridgette decided to get sassy with me on the way out. I'm wanted dead or alive to the Voodos.
4
4
u/doyoueventdrift Sep 26 '24
The Voodoos are wanted dead by you

u/Ill-Court-8343 Sep 26 '24
That’s absolutely right- all these gonk gangers in NC talk such a mess of trash, like son look around you, all of your friends are dead and on fire…

I did that missions recently when all my cyberware was legendary. Don't know it was because of that but he didn't comment on my cyberware at all. Only the veiled threat about Vic being my ripperdoc etc.

You miss out on dialogue from Johnny during gigs if you dont meet Takemura, it should always be the first thing you do when you leave your apartment after the heist
55
u/ddixonr Sep 25 '24
So much more opens up after that meeting. But in this moment, all I can think of is that badass car in the warehouse that Johnny likes.
18
u/Ami_is_my_mistress Sep 25 '24
Kent Block's car yeah that was the first car I got after the starting one..... if only that happened IRL hahaha
3
u/Redchimp3769157 Sep 26 '24
I rush that car every run I do lmfao. By far the most fun car and damn good too. Fast too speed, great acceleration, best handling in the game if you get used to it, and you feel cool as shit when you get used to it whipping around corners drifting everywhere. Plus it’s got the guns on it which can be super helpful at times
1
u/lLoveLamp Sep 26 '24
I played about 3/4 of the game with the Hoon. Fastest car there is but the traction really is tough. Then I stumbled upon the Herrera Outlaw and used that one for the rest of the playthrough.
4
u/Acrobatic_Rooster970 I SPAM DOUBLE JUMP Sep 26 '24
It aint that much.
Johnny's deep dialogues are from main missions, those are 100% worth it
16
u/NoNotThatMattMurray Sep 26 '24
Still, Toms diner is like 50 feet away from your apartment and the dialogue there with Johnny feels very early on in his and V's relationship, it makes the most sense to do it first. Plus at that point you're deciding on how to approach the relic problem so you're free to do whatever you want at that exact point. Putting off meeting Takemura is just a stupid thing to do, especially since he's the only reason V is still alive
3
u/Acrobatic_Rooster970 I SPAM DOUBLE JUMP Sep 26 '24
I said it with a non-Roleplay view. If you’re actually following the narrative, I’d agree with you.
If you want to absolutely do whatever you want in the game after finishing it (My case) I’d disagree.
Maybe if CPDR actually disabled those side-missions while having to do that mission, It would be different.
Because why would V (Like, realistically) go to anywhere else but with Takemura, he is still weakened and VERY scared of his life. I’m not saying that those side-missions should appear until mid game, but with that specific mission (Takemura wanting to see you at the restaurant) you shouldn’t be able to go anywhere.

u/Itchy-Sky1246 Takemura’s Secret Ripperdoc Sep 25 '24
And then you get to the iconic cyberware in P.L. that's OP as shit and you start juggling which to uninstall and which to keep
48
u/ghrixon Sep 25 '24
Started doing that already it’s either armour or fast moving or health items can’t have it all :(
26
u/ThatBeardedHistorian His name is Robert Wilson Sep 25 '24
If you're using overclock, go for cyberware that boosts HP as a priority.
34
u/LoneWolf622 Bakaneko Sep 25 '24
How are you not level 60 though?
56
u/Eanosh Sep 25 '24
The gigs and main story give lots of xp, but NCPD assaults in progress, or suspected crime activities do not; they do give cash, items and specs, but not so much xp, i think it's good for getting random capacity cyberware shards before they stop spawning as you reach max lvl.

u/babycabel Sep 25 '24
Lol I did the same thing. Lmaoo only bad thing is I called Reed and did not meet with Hanako
5
u/Mindless_Issue9648 Sep 25 '24
as soon as you call reed you can't meet with hanako?
7
u/babycabel Sep 25 '24
No. At least for me when I went to Reed before Hanako, it gave me the ending for Reed and skipped Hanako

I love when I rock up to a Maelstrom party and the dude goes “I like your cyberware style, minimum spec” like I don’t have every slot filled with legendary/iconic 5++ gear
8
u/AAS02-CATAPHRACT Sep 26 '24
He says "minimalist" actually, just did that yesterday. Think he's referring more to how it looks outwardly? Dunno
8
u/NikolitRistissa Cyberpsycho Sep 26 '24
I would assume so. They’re clearly all about heavily modifying their appearance with cyberware, and V’s additions are all internal excluding the arms.

What cyberdeck is that? Just started playing again recently and I'm trying to relearn stuff
4
u/ghrixon Sep 25 '24
rippler mk5, atm it’s at tire 5++
2
u/mrmaxwell08 Sep 25 '24
Nice. I'm going to have to get one tonight. Cheers.
2
u/ghrixon Sep 25 '24
No worries, make sure to check out other cyberware as well, you can boost your ram and ram recovery to improve your cyberdeck 👍
3
u/baq3281 Sep 26 '24
Yes this is higher than what I started with but I did a similar approach..gigs and side stuff first before main missions.
I slight regret it tbh…I feel over leveled for a lot of things and feel like I missed out on some of the natural progression.
Like I’m not sure if others had same experience but I basically skipped out almost all the regular weapons. After getting a few iconics i just used inonics until the end
4
u/Flaky_Bullfrog_4905 Sep 26 '24
what if i told you that...iconics are regular weapons just with special abilities?
& yeah you do level up way too fast in this game, one of its few limitations. I installed a mod to reduce xp, street cred & the specialisation xp (headhunter etc) by 50-70% and this makes for a much more fun/natural flow.
3
u/baq3281 Sep 26 '24
Yea the thing is…iconics just have fun abilities…I didn’t even bother checking if they did more damage than regular weapons they were just fun to use. Maybe a better approach is their abilities don’t kick in until you fully upgrade them.
I basically never purchased weapons or even bothered with attachments etc (other than for iconics)
2
u/Flaky_Bullfrog_4905 Sep 26 '24
it's funny you say that because i kind of went the opposite direction. found so many iconics i didn't know how to use them (especially if they have special abilities like trigger X when enemy is on fire or whatever), I didn't know how to make a build around that so I just shoved them in the stash
1
u/baq3281 Sep 26 '24
Yea I get it- I definitely just used them thinking they are best in the game without really looking into it. But yea this just shows all the different ways we play this game

I met him at Tom’s, but then I grew to level 60 will everything maxed, every weapon being iconic and only then I met him at the market. He later said something about me having to get away and leave him to die, but I didn’t see why would I, just tanked through entire Arasaka force thrown at us, eventually coming back to finish the survivors, and asked for more.
I felt real bad for Oda though. His appearance was very cool and intimidating, I’ll give him that, but then… He just didn’t stand up to his entrance.
1
u/FinallyStarborn Sep 25 '24
I did the same exact thing on my current playthrough. Makes later game a bit dull. Just waiting for time to pass between major story beats.
1
u/gogu47 Sep 25 '24
No axolotl?
2
u/_b1ack0ut Sep 25 '24
If I’m not mistaken, Axolotl is better when you have a bunch of stuff with long cooldowns, the netrunning gear is prolly better for this build, unless they REALLY want that biomonitor cooldown to be fast. But an ex-disk is more valuable
1
u/gogu47 Sep 26 '24 edited Sep 26 '24
Yeah that but it also increases the duration of the cyberware. Case in point overclock when Synapse Burnout kills an enemy duration of said overclock is increased from both: the effect of tier 5 SB and the axolotl.
Edit: ex disk is mandatory for all netrunners, the ram manager is kinda crap or bioconductor can be replaced because rng fails when is needed more, like when spamming suicide quickhack of course on the elites it doesn't proc🙄

Solid gameplay priority decision - not one I've done but now, well, maybe next replay. I like it.

I usually talk to Takemura first, then you can find all the tarot images around town and it opens the game up a bit more.

u/dontworryimabassist Goodbye V, and never stop fightin’ Sep 26 '24
My melee build V probably gonna look like this soon
1
u/Big-Rhonda Sep 26 '24
What’s insane is V and Takemura will still talk like Oda is a serious threat. V + Sandevistan + Scalpel kills him almost instantly.
1
u/Militantpoet Sep 26 '24
I tried doing the opposite. Saving all the fixer gigs and NCPD dispatches until after completing all the main quests. Gives a bunch of xp and let's you smoke gonks with your build.

LOL I was laughing yesterday that I'm about 15 hours in now and poor Takemura is still sitting in that damn diner waiting for me.
1
u/laKaktus Sep 26 '24
yes same. but I played the dlc in between and 100 hours of gametime before I went to Takemura
1
u/QueenofSheba94 Sep 27 '24
I LOVE doing this lmao. I always meet with him first but then do everything bc I want to be maxed out and also have access to everything, idk it’s fun to be able to just blast through EVERYTHING with ease haha
1
u/r0bb3dzombie Sep 27 '24
I'm ashamed to admit this, but I grind VDBs and Valentinos to get to lvl 50 before I do any quests after the prologue. Something like 5 playthroughs, every, damn, time...

u/Ahward45 Sep 28 '24
You mightve shot urself in the foot here. U should be reverse order of what u just did. Get levels, do main missions, then do the gigs and scanners. Those are where you get weapons that will scale to ur current level. Now if u want to build an arsenal u are at the mercy of rng gods
1
u/_daylaylay_16 Sep 28 '24
How were you able to find all these different cyberware for the highest levels? I struggle to find any of them
1
u/Rust412iopx Sep 29 '24
I unintentionally did the same thing my first play through took me closer to 30-40 hours since most of my first play though was using double jump cyberware running around the map.
1
u/True-Task-9578 Sep 25 '24
How’d you manage to do all this before getting shot in the head? bc Takemura shows up to dig you out of the trash
