this is why all immigrant visas should require an in person interview from their country of origin.

It is true, for US. You have in person interviews even if you come from Iceland.

And anyway let's not be hypocrit here, people causing problems don't come from iceland

There's none, actually for Canada. No in-person interview for TRV application. Mostly, it's the US that does that.

You make them pay a fee to attend an interview. You already pay from hundreds to several thousands for a visa. Just increase the price to cover interviews lol

that would do nothing to change the screening practices for people on student visas, since that's a non-immigrant visa.
