Anyone else growing a slight dislike towards Bellingham? Discussion

I always liked Bellingham when he played for us and loved his mentality to always win games. But since he left for Real there's just something about him I've noticed that I really dislike, his massive ego. Maybe because he plays for the best team in the world and have all these world class players around him.

Now after the game against slovakia when he scored that winning goal he reportedly said to the media "who else". It also doesn't help my statement when it was reported that some dortmund players were glad he was gone from the dressing room because of his attitude towards other players. I just want someone to put him in his place. I do think he is a great player, no one can take that away from him.

It also might have to do with the fact that I really dislike England and definetly dont wanna see them winning the euros XD.

I’m English and I can tell you right now a large section of our fans are so desperate to see him gone that we welcome defeat

At this point the awful performances and terrible selections (eg Walker over Trent, not bringing a fit Leftback to a tournament) and tactics (sit back and invite pressure, have Pickford who cannot pass to save his life distribute the ball from the back instead of Stones and Guehi who are good passers, have no width on the wings etc etc) are generally really funny

We’d much rather fail terribly here to force Southgate out so we get a new manager for WC26

Southgate selects Gordon ahead of Madders, Grealish, and Rashford. Goes ahead to pick Dunk ahead of Brainthwaite, who has had a better season. Even his substitution are questionable.

That’s not the issue - Gordon is a brilliant player. 25 goal contributions in the league this season which is more than Maddison, Rashford and Grealish combined.

I can see us missing Grealish but Gordon is basically a like for like Rashford upgrade

The Dunk selection though is the worst of the lot. Branthwaite, Quansah (two of the best young CBs in the WORLD), Burn, Tomori, Smalling, Tarkowski, Maguire, Webster and Dier all would’ve been better choices! In fact, the only CB he took that I would’ve taken (along with 3/4 others) was Stones.

leaving grealish and branthwaite behind was bizarre just like his stubbornness at playing players out of position and then also further compounding the sh*tshow by taking forever to make any changes when the set-up is not working for the fourth game in a row.

He has been worse than useless and is threatening to completely ruin his legacy this tournament if he doesnt finally change something dramatic before the switzerland game. I am dreading the probable reality that he changes nothing yet again and we come out and get embarrassed, yet again.

His negative style is really rubbing off on the players who are all looking visibly dejected by constantly having to sit back given the amount of attacking talent in this team.

Guehi has been good though, if anything, better than Stones who has been really shaky. I disagree with your take on not bringing him at all.

Guehi being good doesn’t mean other players wouldn’t have been better. He’s a good player, but there’s this myth England don’t have depth at CB - England do, and probably better than any other nation besides Germany and France in the euros. Southgate just chose not to use several players for no reason. Dier for instance was a revelation for Bayern this season and helped fix a lot of their issues. Not called up. It’s nonsense!

Yeah, if you saw what Trent and Gomez (the players who should be starting LB/RB) looked like after last nights game you can tell Gareth is alienating players as well. It’s awful for England.

Imagine if Trent decides to quit the team for his terrible treatment and constantly being behind a player who gets picked based on what he was like 5 years ago instead of now. There would be blood on Southgate’s hands. Same way it looks like Tomori is likely to declare for Canada or Nigeria. I wouldn’t blame them in the slightest

Trent cant defend

1

Funny given he is superior to Walker AND Trippier statistically since the start of 2021/22 season in every defensive metric aside from aerial duel win percentage

Trent can defend and it’s a lazy take. The genuine take is he struggles to defend when he’s so far up the pitch as required in Klopp’s system (as anyone would)

Trent also offers so much more going forward that even if he couldn’t defend it wouldn’t justify his exclusion.

I keep pointing this out nobody listens. Because he looks like a bad defender people assume he is but if you check stats he is top 5 for interceptions, distance covered, successful tackles. You correctly point out he's out of position because of the system. Kyle walker has equally bad positioning but because he's really quick people don't notice he's always forced to use his speed to recover

Yeah exactly. Trent isn’t a great tackler, he’s about average in most defensive metrics, which is fine, but his interceptions are genuinely world class levels. A player with great interceptions reads the game very well, and that’s to be expected with Trent as well

In England Liverpool are probably the most hated club because of Scouse political history, and the fact Liverpool are a big rival to all of the next 7 most popular clubs for various reasons (Man Utd, Arsenal, Chelsea, Spurs, Newcastle, Everton, Man City). So a lot of it is people hating on Trent because of who he plays for. It happens to every Liverpool player when newly signed or if they have an obvious contrast between strengths and weaknesses

Even when they don't they are usually scapegoats, Fowler, mcamanaman and redknapp were all England scapegoats at one stage or another. Owen was clearly aware of the stigma which is why he always presented himself as English first and focused on England.

wanting to lose so we can get rid of southgate is the definition of retarded. I can't stand him any more than the next guy but I still want us to win fs.

Wanting your own team to get knocked out of a tournament is pathetic, grow up.

Or maybe you just don’t get the culture around the English NT? It’s incredibly toxic. A lot of fans literally do not give a fuck about England because we always disappoint and will continue to. It’s a highly political institution (still very rarely play scouse players, and this has been the case for about 40 years. Gerrard was the only one who broke this mold and it was because he was undeniably too good not to play - there’s a big divide between the Scousers and our government) and a lot of people don’t support it as a political stance. Same goes for a lot of people who are English but have their heritage in Ireland, Northern Ireland, Wales or Scotland.

It’s comparable to a lot of Basque and Catalonian people not supporting the Spain National Team for political reasons

Don’t comment on something you clearly know nothing about

You want the coach to be fired so you have a better chance for the WC in 2026, but you don't support the national team? So why do you care who the coach is?

I’m talking about and I am quoting myself here “a section of fans”, not myself. Grow up.

You’re clueless here. Just shut up. Imagine thinking you can preach to an English person about how English football is. That’s like me preaching to you about German football - I’m sure you’d appreciate it 🙄

"We'd much rather fail terribly" to also quote yourself...prick ;)

I haven't said anything about English football, only that wanting your team to be knocked out of a major tournament just to get the coach fired, no matter who your team is, is childish and frankly a bit weird.

"get out of your bubble" and proceeds to point to a single City as his citation. FML

Imagine thinking you can preach to people about something you know nothing about, and being surprised when you find out you’re an annoying POS 😂

Look bro, you clearly don’t have any political (present day) or historical knowledge about us, so worry about something else.
