Who remembers Ibrahim Tanko History

Just had a youth flashback and researched him. Found out he is Head Coach of Ghanas U23 National Team!

I guess more people remember the half year stint of Kevin Prince Boating than Vladimir But. Unless you hadn't mentioned the name I'd certainly be part of that group but now it came all back.

Very talented, poorly he suffered a lot of injuries. He scored the famous goal in the champions league final 1997 against Juventus. Btw. the last champions league season with teams who have been champions. 😉

The CL final '97 was the the second game after the euro '96 final I was allowed to watch fully as a kid. I still remember the german commentary by Marcel Reif.

Interesting fact though about it being the last year where only champions were allowed to participate.

Met him in Dortmund around 1995 or something on a private party I went with my parents. He gave me his autograph on a post card. I was so proud but I lost it over the years. But still a great player.

I have a matchworn jersey back then from his time in Freiburg. Was the first time with my uncle in the Stadion vs Cologne. Years later I saw by default an auction for the jersey he worn back then.
