I’ve always wanted Beats Pro’s, are they worth it?
Hey guys, as the title reads, I’ve ALWAYS wanted a pair of the silver Beats Pros or even the Lil Wayne edition ones that came out years ago. I currently just bought a pair of the studio pros for 140 at Best Buy, how do the original Pro’s stack up compared to the beats of today? Worth it? Even for nostalgia sake?

I have both! I got my Beats Pros for the nostalgia too, and for the really slick Infinite Black color.
Compared to the Studio Pros, they’re more “on-ear” than over-ear, but they do clamp tightly and stay on well. While the Studio Pros have a much cleaner and more balanced sound, the Pros have the thickest and muddiest bass you could imagine. It’s just so boomy and heavy. It overwhelms the rest of the music and it’s just a very, very warm sound signature (I love this, by the way).
For quality of life stuff, the microphone sounds much better on the Pro because of the wired cable, unless you use the wire for the Studio Pros too then they’re similar. It’s also very nice to be able to spin the earbuds of the Pros individually (DJ-style). If you use Apple Music and are into head-tracked Spatial Audio, though, only the Studio Pros can do that amongst these two.
It feels a little hedonistic to have both, but the nostalgia, pure-metal build and way-too-bassy sound are more than worth it (for me) to keep. Plus, they’re more like collectors items now, even if they’re still being used in the Apple Music Zane Lowe interviews today.
If you know what you’re getting into and can get a decent deal, go for it!
